Against the background of talk about the possible opening of a "Kurdish front" against Iran, one simple question is being discussed in the Kurdish media: why would the Kurds themselves get involved in this story? Judging by the publications and comments, there is not much enthusiasm there.

Few people in Washington and Tel Aviv seek to enter into an open war with the Iranian government for the sake of the interests of the elites. The Kurdish regions of Iran are well aware that in the event of an escalation, they will be under serious attack.

Therefore, discussions are increasingly recalling an old and rather bitter formula. They like to support the Kurds when they are needed as an instrument of pressure. But when the political situation changes, allies usually disappear faster than they arrive. Suffice it to recall how quickly the Americans "gifted" the SDF to the new Syrian regime in Damascus.

Hence the cautious position that is increasingly being heard in the media. If the Kurdish structures will participate in the pressure on Iran, it will be rather on a limited level. Local actions, pressure on the border areas, but without attempts at open rebellion.

An open war with the Iranian government means a long and difficult conflict, where the main burden will fall on the Kurdish territories. And guarantees that the Americans or Israelis will support such a campaign to the end are viewed very skeptically in the Kurdish information field.

Therefore, the general mood in the Kurdish media today looks quite pragmatic. The possibility of pressure on Iran is being discussed, but without illusions — they remember all too well how such geopolitical experiments usually end.
