Whether he was all dressed up for a night on the town or ready to hit the beach, Ken's many looks were always a sign of the times.
See how his looks have changed over the last 50 years.

Debuting two years after Barbie, the original Ken stood at 12” tall and sported molded hair in blond and brunette.
Ken ditched the beach look for a preppier style. He also switched from molded hair to painted.
Mod Hair Ken was the first with “rooted hair” that came in straight and curly. He also had attachable facial hair if you wanted to add a mustache, beard or sideburns–perfect for that 1972 look!
In 1979, Sun Lovin Malibu Ken sported som snazzy turquoise swim trunks and a golden tan for a day at the beach.
In 1984, Dream Date Ken was ready for a classy night out with his favorite gal.
Totally Hair Ken made waves in 1992. Complete with rooted hair and a tube of styling gel, he reflected the changing hair styles of the early 90s.
After Barbie left him in 2004 for an Australian boogier boarder named Blaine, Ken got a Hollywood makeover from celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, hoping to win back Barbie’s heart.
With a new sportier look, Ken entered his “fashionista” phase with some other enhancements: bendable arms and a swivel neck.
His Fashionista Cutie look was a big hit, and he eventually reunited with Barbie on Valentine’s Day of this year.
Back with the girl of his dreams in 2011, Ken is now the Ultimate Boyfriend. You can record your favorite phrase and he’ll say them right back to you!
