Home Entertainment Lazy Town Cast, What Happened to the Girl, Who Are the Characters
The Lazy Town cast we all know has obviously moved on with there lives since the series was first aired. It’s been years since the first episode of the Icelandic musical comedy show graced our television screen.
Lazy Town which is universally acclaimed as one of the most expensive children’s show ever made was centered on an eight-year-old girl Stephanie, who visited the town to stay with her Uncle, Mayor Milford Meanswell and soon realized that the residents of the town lived an inactive lifestyle. Thereafter she took it upon herself to lead Lazy town to a more active lifestyle with the help of Superhero Sportacus. It was hugely successful and has been dubbed into 30 languages and shown in 180 countries.
We are here to discuss what has happened to the lead actress, Stephanie and other Lazy Town cast.
The little, smart, athletic Lazy Town girl with pink Bob hair who went on a mission to rescue the town of the lazy town was cast by Julianna Rose Mauriello. She featured in season 1 & 2 and then retired in 2011 when she had outgrown her role.
However, she worked on the series Lazy town extra from 2008 to 2014. Of course, she looks nothing like little Stephanie now, the pink Bob has disappeared, so has much of her pink apparel. Moreover, she doesn’t appear to be doing much acting anymore.
In fact, the 27-year-old announced last year, via Instagram that she was now a qualified Occupational therapist and was out for jobs.
Chloe Lang who is from Connecticut, USA, was Mauriello’s replacement for season 3 & 4 of the program. She started dancing when she was two years old and grew popular by appearing in dancing competitions. Her other shows are Mask Face (2011) and My Brother Jack (2013). Lang has grown into a beautiful teenager and is estimated to be worth about $2 million.
Schevin, a local and international aerobic athletic champion, was the creator of lazy town. He wrote a book called Afram Latibær on how kids can live a healthy lifestyle. He was motivated to start the series because of the apparent lack of physical activity in Iceland’s young population.
He played the role of the energetic Sportacus who loved to eat only fruits and vegetables, which he calls ‘Sports candy’ and would lose all his superhero power whenever he consumes junk food like candy.
In February 2005, he handed over the reign of Lazy Town entertainment and took to his other passion which is restaurant business. He is currently the manager of ROK, a Scandinavian seafood restaurant.
Stefánsson played the role of the scheming villain, whose ultimate aim was to thwart Stephanie’s effort although he never succeeds. Ironically, he puts so much energy into his plans that he ended up becoming the most active citizen of Lazy town.
He continued with TV shows and films after Lazy Town, but in 2016, he was diagnosed with bile duct cancer and subsequently underwent surgery on his liver. He was declared cancer-free in August 2017, but the disease sadly returned in March 2018 and was deemed ‘inoperable’.
Unfortunately, he passed on from the disease in 21st August 2018 at the age of 43, leaving behind his wife, Steinunn Ólina Porsteinsdóttir and four kids.
While he was alive, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by Mark Valanti, Lazy town’s writer, to pay his bills when he became too ill to work. After his death, his Manager, Cheryl Edison announced that the Stefan Karl Academy for the Performing arts would be launched in Switzerland, in 2019, in order to keep his memory alive.
Westwood continued her career as a renowned voice actress and puppeteer. She lives in Bolton, the UK with her two sons, Tom and Nigel. Other TV shows where she played voice characters are The Hoobs (as Tula), Cartoon Critters (as Fleur) and Fully booked .
Thor is one of the lazy town cast who is the voice behind the sweet and candy lover, Ziggy. He is an Icelandic puppet designer and puppeteer and Lazy town was the only TV show he ever featured in. He has a puppet entertainment company based in Iceland.
Sarah Burgess is a British puppeteer who voiced the character, Trixie, the mischievous girl who frequently refers to Stephanie as ‘Pinky’ because of her pink hair. She also voiced the character of Stingy, in the UK version of the show.
She was the voice of Brassy in Sea Pirates and was a puppeteer in Doctor Dolittle . Sarah played the role of Phoebe Furchester-Fuzz in Furchester Hotel and currently resides in London.
Eichelberger is a puppeteer and the voice character of the self- centered Stingy. He is a writer as well, and wrote a version of ‘snow Queen’ and ‘Pinocchio’. He is also a composer and director and he equally has advanced training in theatre and music from Reagent’s college.
He lives in the US and hosts ‘Story Story Night’, which is a storytelling program.
The Mayor of Lazy town by Mathew Feldman loves his niece Stephanie and often calls on Sportacus to help her whenever she is in trouble.
Aside from being the voice actor of Marumo in the manga series, Mirmo, little else is known about Mathew Feldman’s recent activities. But we know that he was born and raised on Long Island, New York and known love all works of puppetry since childhood.

Stephanie is a fictional character from the English-language and Icelandic-produced children's television show LazyTown . She inspires the citizens of the titular town to stay active. She has pink hair and as such is often referred to as 'Pinky' by the puppet character Trixie. She came to town to visit her uncle, Milford Meanswell, the mayor of LazyTown. Upon meeting the other children, she unsuccessfully attempted to get them to play along as opposed to staying at home playing video games and eating candy. This changed when Stephanie asked for the help of Sportacus . When he finally arrived, the whole town worked together to make LazyTown a more active place to live. Each episode of the show ends with Stephanie performing a song and dance routine to " Bing Bang ", the show's ending theme. [6]

In the Icelandic version of LazyTown , the character is called Solla Stirða, and her voice was dubbed in Icelandic by Ólöf Kristín Þorsteinsdóttir. [7]

The role of Stephanie was performed by Julianna Rose Mauriello in seasons 1 and 2. [8] In 2011, Julianna confirmed she would be leaving LazyTown , since she has grown too old to play the role of Stephanie. So she was replaced by Chloe Lang for seasons 3 and 4. Stephanie was also played by Kimberly Pena in LazyTown Live! The Pirate Adventure , a stage production that toured throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2009. [9]

Stephanie was depicted as being an athletic, caring, optimistic and smart 8-year-old girl. [10] Surprised by the inactivity of the residents of LazyTown, she cheerfully encourages them to participate in more active, energetic hobbies or pastimes such as sports, games, tickling Stephanie, and much more when they are downhearted when the temptations of candy or video games overcome her prodding. Despite this, Stephanie is characterized by her optimism and self-confidence, which she proudly promotes and shares with her peers in encouragement against all odds or challenges, always victoriously triumphing over any obstacles or antagonists by the conclusion of an episode.

Stephanie's attempts are often nearly thwarted by Robbie Rotten , but his plans are never foolproof and always end with Stephanie winning.

Stephanie was originally created by Magnus Scheving for the stage play Áfram Latibær as 'Solla Stirða' ("Solla Stiff"), a girl with stiff joints who dreamt of becoming a dancer. Solla also appeared in the sequel to the stage play, Glanni Glæpur í Latabæ . She was played by Selma Björnsdóttir and Linda Ásgeirsdóttir, respectively.

Magnus Scheving reworked Solla into Stephanie for the LazyTown television show. Shelby Young was originally pegged to play Stephanie, and filmed one unaired pilot before departing due to union issues.

Ultimately, Julianna Rose Mauriello was chosen to play Stephanie, and played her for the first two seasons and LazyTown Extra before departing due to aging out of the role.

Chloe Lang picked up the role of Stephanie for seasons three and four, and as of 2022 is the most recent actress to play Stephanie.

Stephanie tends to wear a pink sleeveless dress with pale pink tights, pink socks, white and pink sneakers and a purple hairband. Her outfit, though, changes from time to time. For example, in "LazyTown Goes Digital" and "Energy Book", she wears pink leggings with her usual dress. She also wears tracksuits and other items of clothing, but they are nearly always pink. Her short hair is dyed pink. All her accessories are also pink. She is often seen carrying a pink purse with a heart on it, in which she carries her pink diary.

Child development authors Lyn Mikel Brown and Sharon Lamb assert that Stephanie is interesting and makes pink a "power color" due to her quick thinking, computer gaming and sporty nature. [5]

Whatever Happened To Stephanie From LazyTown?

By Fabio Magnocavallo AND Joanna Mazewski / Updated: Jan. 3, 2022 5:20 pm EDT
Child actor Julianna Rose Mauriello first rose to fame in the early 2000s, and she is most known for playing the role of Stephanie in "LazyTown," which aired on Nickelodeon . Her character lived in a yellow house with her uncle, who was the mayor of the town. Stephanie's personality was very positive, and she was always known for her short pink bob and girly outfits of the same color.
According to IMDb , she was never originally cast for the role. The young girl who was initially offered the job declined their offer, which allowed Mauriello to take the part. The hit show was a huge success and enjoyed four seasons. As reported by TVOvermind , she would spend a lot of time filming the episodes in Iceland.
Mauriello starred in 51 episodes of "LazyTown" during 2004 through 2007. In 2013, the popular show made a return. However, Mauriello didn't come back and was replaced by Chloe Lang, who played Stephanie for Seasons 3 and 4, per IMDb . With millions of fans around the world who fell in love with Stephanie, many may wonder what Mauriello got up to after the show.
After the success of "LazyTown," Julianna Rose Mauriello continued to act for a little longer, but didn't take on any new roles that were as popular as Stephanie. According to IMDb , she last starred in the TV mini-series "The Doc Files" in 2013. Over the years, there has been a lot of speculation about what happened to Mauriello after "LazyTown." As previously reported by TVOvermind , there were rumors that the former child star had been arrested for sex work, while other stories stated she had died from a drug overdose. Fortunately, these were strictly rumors and completely untrue.
It appears that being a famous actor is not Mauriello's priority at the moment, as it's been nearly a whole decade since her last acting job. Instead, she went back to school and attended Columbia University to learn something different, per TVOvermind. Even though she has never officially announced she has ditched the entertainment industry, it seems her interests are elsewhere as she studied to get a master's degree in occupational therapy.
Mauriello keeps a very low profile nowadays and doesn't appear to be active on any social media platforms with a public account. However, TVOvermind noted that three years ago, she had a Facebook page that was updated regularly.
While so many celebrities have been using social media as a platform to reach out to their fan base, Julianna Rose Mauriello is not one of them. She does have an official Instagram account, but she doesn't dance on TikTok — though her "LazyTown" successor, Chloe Lang, does. Lang became an internet sensation by wearing Stephanie's famous pick costume while singing hits such as "Big Bang (Time to Dance)," according to the Evening Standard .
And while Mauriello is no longer in the spotlight, she certainly does have fond memories of her "LazyTown" days. During an interview on the "Tony Danza Show" back in 2006, Mauriello recalled how she first got the job. She shared, "My agent told me about the audition but not many kids went out for the audition because there weren't a lot of people who wanted to move to Iceland, but I thought, 'why not?'"
And while living in Iceland differs from living in Hollywood, Mauriello admitted that she didn't mind the experience at all. Here's why.
Julianna Rose Mauriello spent a lot of her teenage years living in Iceland, simply because that's where "LazyTown" was filmed. She told the "Tony Danza Show" that the experience was definitely a positive one for her.
When asked what it was like living in Iceland at the time, Mauriello put it this way, "I lived in Reykjavik, which is the main city ... It's really incredible, actually. I'm a New Yorker and I live here, that's my home, but in Iceland what's really cool about it is that it's a great country and the landscape and everything is really beautiful. It's got glacial lagoons and big volcanoes and stuff, and it's really different." What's more, Mauriello also added that she was tutored on set while she was filming the hit Icelandic series.
In other words, it sounds like Mauriello's "LazyTown" years sounded like the kind of stuff that dreams are made of. How do you say, "Woof Woof Woof" in Icelandic?
