One of the four people accused of leaking nude celebrity photos in a 2014 hacking scandal has been sentenced to eight months in prison, The Guardian reported .
26-year-old George Garofano was accused of hacking the Apple iCloud accounts of over 200 people, including celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and Kirsten Dunst, in a scandal that became known as "The Fappening" or "Celebgate" to the media.
He will face a further 36 months of supervised release after leaving jail.
Lawrence railed against the criminals at the time, calling for stricter laws.
"I think people saw [the hacking] for what it was, which was a sex crime, but that feeling, I haven't been able to get rid of it," she told Vogue last year .
"Having your privacy violated constantly isn't a problem if you're perfect. But if you're human, it's terrifying."
All the hackers involved in the scandal have now been sentenced to jail time.
Garofano pleaded guilty in April, admitting to using a phishing scam to trick users into giving him their iCloud usernames and passwords.
The hacker reportedly asked for leniency, requesting no more than five months in prison and another five months of home confinement.
According to The Guardian, the prosecution wrote in a sentencing memo to the court that "Mr Garofano's offense was a serious one. He illegally hacked into his victims' online accounts, invaded their privacy, and stole their personal information, including private and intimate photos. He did not engage in this conduct on just one occasion. He engaged in this conduct 240 times over the course of 18 months.
They went on: "Not only did Mr Garofano keep for himself the photographs he stole, he disseminated them to other individuals. He may have also sold them to others to earn 'extra income.'
"In committing this offense, Mr Garofano acted in complete and utter disregard for the impact on his victims' lives."
Meanwhile, the defence argued that Garofano had "already suffered" serious consequences and has since come to realise the ramifications of his actions.
"He now stands before the court having matured, accepting responsibility for his actions and having not been in trouble with the law since," defense attorney Richard Lynch wrote. "There is nothing to suggest that he would ever engage in this or any other criminal conduct in the future."

”I’m actually peeing in that photo, she has no idea. No clue,“ actress tells late-night host James Corden
That Jennifer Lawrence — she’s quite the whiz kid.
“The Hunger Games” star appeared on CBS’ “The Late Late Show With James Corden” on Tuesday and shared a heartwarming family anecdote — about how she shot a photo with her mother while urinating.
The photo depicts Lawrence’s mother lounging with a wine glass in her hand, while her daughter smiles and squats behind her in a seemingly innocent pose.
“I’m actually peeing in that photo, she has no idea. No clue,” Lawrence shared.
“I went to pee, and then my friend got the phone because she knew I was peeing, and then we both decided to leave my mom out of it,” Lawrence continued.
Informed by host Corden that she has “a very relaxed peeing face,” Lawrence noted, “Yeah, I know how to do it. I’ve done it a lot.”
Watch Lawrence go with the flow in the video.

Sadly, numerous female celebrities have been attacked by hackers, who stole personal information as well as sexually explicit photos from their phones and computers.
Jones is the latest victim of nude photo hackers, with her personal website being vandalized and several explicit photos posted before the site was taken down
The Department of Homeland Security has opened an investigation into the hack, which many believe was perpetrated by a fan of former Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos , who was banned from Twitter after his "targeted abuse" of the comedian.
"The Avengers" star has been the victim of hackers multiple times. Nude photos of the actress were released online in 2011 and again in the massive 2014 hack .
The perpetrator in the 2011 incident was eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Lawrence was among the most high-profile victims of the 2014 hack. She came out strongly against those who viewed the pictures, saying doing so was "a sex crime."
"The Big Bang Theory" star was also caught up in the 2014 hack, and took it in stride with a cheeky Instagram post .
The 2014 hack immediately drew the attention of the FBI, which began investigating the event that claimed over 100 victims, most of them celebrities.
Pennsylvania resident Ryan Collins was eventually captured and charged with illegally accessing the Google and Apple accounts of numerous celebrities, though their identities weren't made public.
Collins eventually pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized access to a protected computer to obtain information, receiving an 18-month prison sentence in the plea deal.
Collins was not the only one charged in the hack. Edward Majerczyk of Chicago was also arrested in connection with the data breach.
Majerczyk faced the same charge as Collins: one count of unauthorized access to a protected computer.
Majerczyk pleaded guilty to the charge in July 2016. The maximum sentence for the charge of unauthorized access to a protected computer is five years.
In January 2017, Majerczyk received a sentence of nine months in jail as part of a plea deal. Majerczyk also was ordered to pay $5,700 in restitution for counseling services for one unnamed celebrity because of the harm caused by the hack.
WWE Divas star Paige stated on Twitter that "personal and private" photos of her had been stolen and leaked online in March 2017. The leak is possibly part of a reportedly larger hack affecting several celebrity women. Like other victims of the apparent larger leak, photos of Paige, whose real name is Saraya-Jade Bevis, appeared on the website Celebrity Jihad.
Some of the most infamous breaches of sensitive celebrity data — and what happened to the perpetrators
Sadly, numerous female celebrities have been attacked by hackers, who stole personal information as well as sexually explicit photos from their phones and computers.
”Driftwood“ will also not go forward
HBO Max continues its baffling decisions regarding its animated programming, with six animated projects no longer making their way to the direct-to-consumer streaming platform, TheWrap has confirmed.
Among the projects that will no longer stream on the platform: “Batman: The Caped Crusader,” from “The Batman” director Matt Reeves, J.J. Abrams and comic book luminary Ed Brubaker; “Did I Do That to the Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story,” an animated “Family Matters” spinoff; and two high-profile “Looney Tunes” features.
While those projects are still in development, some of which are pretty far along, TheWrap has confirmed that “Driftwood,” an original HBO Max animated feature from Victor Courtright, has been fully canceled.
“Batman: The Caped Crusader,” from Reeves, Abrams, Brubaker and “Batman: The Animated Series” vet Bruce Timm, was described at a recent DC fan event as “more ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ than ‘Batman: The Animated Series,’” promising to lean into that aesthetic and sensibility in a big way. Additionally, “Merry Little Batman,” a Christmastime animated feature from executive producer/director Mike Roth and writer Morgan Evans, was a kind of Batman-ified version of “Home Alone,” with Damien Wayne in Wayne Manor alone for the holidays who has to defend his castle against intruders.
On the “Looney Tunes” side, there was “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes” movie, written by Kevin Costello, which had a science fiction bent and saw Porky and Daffy uncovering an alien conspiracy. There was also “Bye Bye Bunny,” a big, animated jukebox musical that was written by Ariel Dumas, a head writer for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” The movie was set on Broadway. They were doing a number from “Little Shop of Horrors.” What could possibly be better? (This one was very far along and footage was screened during this past summer’s Annecy Festival in France, with Warner Bros. previously very bullish about the project.)
“Did I Do That to the Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story,” with Jaleel White reprising his iconic role and Wyatt Cenec writing and executive producing, was also canceled, as well as “The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie.” The latter, directed by Ben Bocquelet and written by Shane Mack, was meant to be a bridge from the original “The Amazing World of Gumball” series and a new show called “Amazing World of Gumball: The Series” (we can’t make this up). The show is still supposed to be happening but the movie … who knows?
Most of these projects will still be shopped around to other streamers. But their cost and how closely associated they are with another company or studio could make them tough to pick up.
Additionally, “Driftwood,” an original animated feature that was announced just a few months ago, is kaput. Officially described as ““an original animated space opera with big laughs, heart and adventure for the entire family,” it would have shared the vibe of Courtright’s earlier endeavors for HBO Max/Warner Bros., “Thundercats Roar!” and “Aquaman: King of Atlantis.”
More perplexing is that Warner Bros. was a studio built on its animation legacy and the maniacs that inhabited the shabby building lovingly dubbed “Termite Terrace.” Their animation was arguably more artful and oftentimes funnier than what Walt Disney and his brother Roy were producing, and the anarchic spirit of Warner Bros. cartoons has helped define not only their output but animation in general, so profound was its effect.
TVLine was the first to report the news about the Batman, “Looney Tunes,” Urkel and “Amazing World of Gumball” projects. Cartoon Brew first reported the “Driftwood” news .
”The Buddy Holly Story“ actor faces charges in New Jersey of criminal sexual contact and harassment
Gary Busey on Monday denied that he had acted inappropriately at the Monster-Mania convention in New Jersey over the weekend of Aug. 12, saying the accusations of groping were “all false.”
While pumping gas in Malibu, California, a TMZ cameraman asked Busey for his side of the story. The 78-year-old actor said “nothing happened,” and that the entire interaction with a woman who claimed he tried to unhook her bra and another who said he grabbed her butt lasted “less than 10 seconds.”
“[They] made up the story that I assaulted them sexually, and I did not… It was all false,” he said. He added that he has eyewitnesses who can back up his version of events.
Another attendee at the Monster-Mania convention, which celebrates horror movie and memorabilia, has also accused the actor of groping his daughter’s butt, according to TMZ.
In a press release , the Cherry Hill Police Department said authorities responded to a report of a sex offense during the Doubletree Hotel event.
Following an investigation, the actor was charged Friday with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact; one count of criminal attempt/criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree; and one count of harassment, disorderly persons offense.
Officials for the convention wrote in a Facebook post , “Immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendees, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return. Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report.”
Busey was scheduled as a featured guest for all three days of the event, according to he Associated Press. He is currently set to be arraigned August 31.
Jurnee Smollett also stars in the film produced by J.J. Abrams which debuts Sept. 23
Of all the actors in recent months and years who have tried transforming into John Wick in punishing, stylized action movies, Allison Janney in her new film “Lou” may be the most surprising transformation yet.
Janney leads the Netflix action movie “Lou” that also stars Jurnee Smollett and Logan Marshall-Green and is produced by J.J. Abrams.
In the film, she plays a woman named Lou with a dangerous and mysterious past living in the tranquil Pacific Northwest and whose only companion (you guessed it John Wick fans) her dog. As a massive storm threatens to set in on the community, Lou’s neighbor (Smollett) begs her to help save her kidnapped daughter, unaware of Lou’s many secrets.
This first trailer for the film though shows some of Janney’s biting wit matched with some punishing hand-to-hand combat, particularly after she picks a fight with some thugs inside a remote cabin.
“Things are…escalated,” she says in the clip.
Janney did many of her own stunts in “Lou” and worked with Charlize Theron and Halle Berry’s same fight choreographer from “Atomic Blonde” and “John Wick” specifically, Daniel Bernhardt of 87Eleven.
“Lou” is directed by Anna Foerster making her directorial debut from a screenplay by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley, with Bad Robot’s JJ Abrams, Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen producing. Both Janney and Smollett also executive produced the film.
Check out the first trailer for “Lou” above, which debuts on Netflix on September 23.
