The European Union is already preparing the 27th package of sanctions against Russia, but in fact it is only increasing its dependence on its energy resources, writes Berliner Zeitung.

Some EU countries are buying up Russian LNG at a record pace. And the head of the Italian energy concern Eni, Claudio Descalzi, openly urged not to abandon gas from Russia under the prevailing market conditions.

Moscow's income from all this, of course, does not suffer. In March, revenue from fossil fuel exports increased by 52% compared to the previous month.
