Synopsis:

It’s 19th-century Paris, and young vampire Noé hunts for the Book of Vanitas. Attacked by a vampire driven insane, a human intercedes, rescues Noé, and heals the sick creature. Commanding the book and calling himself Vanitas, this doctor tempts Noé with a mad crusade to “cure” the entire vampire race. Allying with one who wields arcane power so easily may be dangerous, but does he have a choice?

Noé is a gentleman vampire with dark skin, short silvery white hair and purple eyes. He commonly wears a pale vest over a black suit with a flared collar. On some occasions, he can be seen donning a top hat and a white coat over his formal clothing.

His story began when he received a letter from The Teacher, which explained that The Teacher wanted Noé to fly to Paris immediately, as there had been rumors that The Book of Vanitas had been found there. The Teacher then specifically ordered Noé to discern The Book of Vanitas' true nature.

In childhood, Noé was kidnapped by Vampires who commonly kidnapped humans to be brought to Altus in order to serve another Vampires. Upon discovering that Noé was actually a Vampire, his captors brought him to numerous places to be auctioned off - eventually being purchased by The Teacher.

Vanitas is an average human being who inherited his name and the Book of Vanitas from the infamous vampire.

He seems to often take nothing seriously and almost always has a broad grin on his face. He acts more on emotions than thought most of the time since his plans are normally reckless. Also carries a mischievous air around him.

When he was just a child, his parents were killed by a vampire. He was saved by the chasseurs and taken in. They trained him to become a chasseur but somewhere along the line, Vanitas caught Doctor Moreau's eye and became his research subject. According to Moreau, Vanitas went through multiple experiments that nearly killed him, and yet he never cried nor complained. The experiments continued until he and "no. 71" were rescued from Moreau's lab by Vanitas of the Blue Moon. Unlike no. 71, Vanitas hated Vanitas of the Blue Moon. The events that occurred afterwards are unknown, but Vanitas acquired the Book of Vanitas at some point. Since receiving the Book of Vanitas, Vanitas has dedicated his life to curing Curse-Bearing Vampires and considers himself a doctor of sorts as a result; using the power of the Book of Vanitas to restore a Curse-Bearer's true name.
