The Breguet Classique 7137 classic design harkens back to a pocket watch of yore.

Abraham-Louis Breguet served as principal watchmaker to the French Empire following the French Revolution. At that time, the focus of his life was precision timekeeping. This watch embodies that very idea, which established the Breguet brand some 235 years ago. Replica Watch

The Breguet 7137, part of the Classique collection, incorporates multiple iterations of engine turning throughout the dial. Engine turning is the painstaking art of

creating patterns in the metal resulting in high-grade decorative finishing and, at Breguet, this is a totally hand-crafted affair.

When it comes to precision and design, we find a silicon balance spring, open barrels and offset rotor. The movement, the automatic caliber 502.3, is hand-decorated.

The movement itself is exceptionally thin and the dial contains a moonphase, age indicator, power reserve indicator and date indicator.  Replica Rolex

Inspired by the Perpetuelle No.5 pocket watch and Breguet watches with engine-turned dials and fluted cases from the 1950s through the 1970s, the Breguet Classique

7137 is historically reverent while technically forward-looking. Each component, from the dial layout to the case and movement design, exudes everything that makes a

Breguet, well, a Breguet.

In short, this is a watch you’re going to want to look at often … cover to cover.

My father has a Breguet dress watch that he purchased some 35 years ago. His is a time-only watch, and at roughly 34mm, it is small by modern standards. The reason I

bring it up is the fact that, despite the vast differences in size, movement, and complication, if you were to place my father's watch next to this one, you would understand completely the underpinnings of Breguet design and the stunning quality exuded on the handworked dials. There is a measure of consistency here that we do

not often see in watchmaking.

This watch matches technical innovation with old school craftsmanship and delivers them in an elegant, dare I say classic, package. The engine turning on the dial

comes in three variations: panier maillé (basketweave) for the power reserve display, a damier (checkerboard) for the date display and a clous de Paris (hobnailing)

for the main portion of the dial.

Coming in at an immensely wearable 39mm, Breguet has been able to fit quite a bit of information onto the dial. As mentioned, the dial itself intentionally invokes the pocket watch sensibility. Now, the pocket watch was called the pocket watch for a reason, and putting one on your wrist would have been nothing short of sheer lunacy some 200 years ago. The fact that Breguet is able to translate a dial design befitting of a far different sort of timepiece, and do so in a way that is balanced and unobtrusive is quite impressive. That they were able to fit it all in a case size some consider to be the “sweet spot?” Well, that’s just showing off.

Each watch is individually numbered (on the dial) and signed. The movement is decorated with côtes de Genève, and the dial boasts the ever recognizable open-style

Breguet handset. The Classique 7137 comes in two variations: white gold with blue dial and blue leather strap or rose gold with a silvered gold dial and brown leather strap.
