The Asian Games
The Asian Games, also known as the Asiad, is a world-famous continental comprehensive sports event held every four years. Athletes from all Asian countries participate in the competition. Since more than half of the world's population belongs to Asia, sports events in Asia are likely to be huge events.
The first event of the Asian Games was held in 1951 in New Delhi, India. The Asian Games Federation organized the event until 1978. However, it has been organized by the Asian Olympic Council since the Asian Games Federation was disbanded in 1982.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized the Asian Games, the second-largest comprehensive sporting event after the Olympics. By 2019, it was held by nine countries from 46 countries. Number of medals

A centennial celebration
