Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, Don Hershman now resides in San Fransico, where he thrives as both a figurative artist and a podiatric surgeon. His artistic journey traces back to his childhood days spent wandering historic museums, particularly finding inspiration in the intricate art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This encounter sparked a desire to explore the harmonious interplay of colors and embrace a career in art. 

Acknowledging the prevalence of financial instability in an art career, Hershman sought security in medicine. He earned a BA in pre-medical Bioscience/Psychology from the State University of New York and later achieved a  DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) from the esteemed California College of Podiatric Medicine. Even while fully immersed in his medical profession, Hershman’s passion for art remained steadfast. In 1992, something remarkable occurred at a party thrown by Hershman, where his recent artworks were displayed. During the event, a guest who happened to be a curator at the Spectrum Gallery came across his pieces and extended an invitation for him to join an upcoming group exhibition. This marked a turning point in Hershman's artistic career, as his creations were well-received and quickly collected. This significant juncture paved the way for numerous exhibitions both in the United States and abroad. Hershman's artistic journey has been a remarkable one, expanding over time to include seven events in 2023, showcased in prominent galleries in San Francisco and New York. His past exhibits includes Miami Red Dot, Miami Context, DeYoung exhibition. Also, he has been a winner in 2020 and 2023. His unique paintings have earned recognition, with nominations for a group show at the DeYoung Museum in 2020 and a successful solo exhibition, "Under the Influence: Donald and Victor," at Salomon Arts Gallery in 2021.
