The Answer
AlterraAfter all this time, I finally realized what it truly meant to be needed, only when it was convenient for someone else. Everything I once believed in turned out to be nothing more than a passing feeling. I kept wondering whether I should stay silent or walk away for the thousandth time. When obsession came to kill me, I obeyed without resistance.
In the end, I always found the same answer. A cruel ending, one no work of fiction would ever dare to write. I kept hoping for something that had been doomed from the very beginning, yet even then, I could not stop loving. Now, the person I have become is condemned by both the one I loved and by the life I built around them.
After spending years beside her, I learned she was no longer a virgin. Death does not always leave visible scars. Sometimes it arrives quietly, hidden beneath emotional wounds carried for years, until the only ending left begins to look comforting. Yet most people never notice those wounds. They call the broken "crazy" without ever asking what broke them in the first place.
"Crazy? I was crazy once."
That sentence deserves an Oscar because it captures something painfully true. Sooner or later, everyone will think we're insane. We try to become ordinary again, but every attempt is met with reactions that leave deeper scars and heavier burdens. Many of us choose silence instead, convincing ourselves it is nothing worth talking about. The truth is far darker. Countless people lose their lives, not because they wanted to die, but because they could no longer survive the war inside their own minds.
The answer always reveals itself. It never lies.
Fortunately, I have finally let it go, even if it took years of fighting for an ending that never felt human. Some things are meant to be buried in silence and left behind, so we have the chance to reach something worth living for.
I will not choose you again. I will not choose them. I will choose myself.
