The Advanced Guide To Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with every upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the item being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through various methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if those items are from a different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific upgrades to the level of an item. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrade r like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
