Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the item being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
