Sex tourism is travel for the specific purpose of having sex, typically with commercial sex workers. It is different from having casual sex during travel with fellow travelers or locals.
This article analysed various sex tourism websites and found that most displayed sex workers as commodities, to be chosen and paid for by tourists, portraying them as exotic third world women, capable of providing a "total girlfriend experience", enjoying the company of foreigners and being completely subservient to them.
