Margot Robbie has done it again – revealed some rare insider info on what went on behind the scenes of, erm, a sex scene.
We already know what happened with Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street ... but in a recent interview, she's revealed some #awkward details about another sex scene – the one she performed opposite Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard in upcoming film The Legend of Tarzan .
Margot – who plays 'Jane' – owned up to getting a little 'carried away' during filming. So much so that at one point, she apparently punched her Tarzan co-star. 'I didn't injure Alexander,' she told Buro247 , 'and I didn't punch him in the face, at least not hard.'
'But he's a pretty strong guy,' she continued, 'he can take it. We just got carried away a bit.'
Quite a revelation! And it got us thinking... performing a sex scene must be one of the most difficult jobs an actor can do. It can't always go as smoothly as planned, and it doesn't... as these examples suggest.
We all know about 'that' car seat moment in Titanic , but what about when the pair reunited for Revolutionary Road ? What of it, you might say? Only this: the film was directed by Kate Winslet's [ then ] husband, Sam Mendes.
'"I just kept saying, 'This is too... weird,'" Kate Winslet told The Telegraph . "And Leo was like, 'Oh, get over it.' And I'm going, 'Yeah, a little reminder: You're my best friend. He's my husband. This is a bit weird.'"
Thankfully, she got over the weirdness; she went on to win a Golden Globe for her performance.
In an interview with Interview magazine Dakota revealed filming those Fifty Shades scenes is 'not ... comfortable'. 'It's pretty tedious,' she added.
She later added: 'We're not having actual sex. But I've been simulating sex for seven hours straight right now, and I'm over it.'
Remember those booty call scenes in Bridesmaids between Kristen Wiig and John Hamm? Well, John once revealed the way to get through them was just to try to enjoy it... ignoring the thongs of course.
Speaking to Playboy in 2012, John said: 'It's like running in the rain. There's a certain point where you go, 'F * ck it, I'm already wet. I'm not going to get any less wet, so I might as well just enjoy how this feels'.'
'I mean, sure, there's an awkwardness about being in a weird flesh-colored thong, bouncing on top of an actress,' he went on to say. 'I am not a small human being. I weigh at least 200 pounds and I'm six-foot-two. And Wiig is a twig; she's a skinny little thing. I told her, 'Just punch me in the side if I'm hurting you,'.'
He called faking sex 'weird and uncomfortable' but also said, 'then all the awkwardness melts away and you think, 'All right, we're doing this, so let's have fun with it '. . . You're in that moment and it's happening and it's not going to get any better, so you might as well enjoy it.'
The Four Weddings and a Funeral star appears to be less bothered by sex scenes than others of his trade.
'I’ve always enjoyed sex scenes,' he once said, 'though you’re not really supposed to. The classic answer is, ‘Oh, it’s not sexy at all because there are so many technicians standing around’. But I’ve always found them extremely arousing.'
She had some pretty explicit scenes with her Factory Girl co-star Hayden Christensen (the Bob Dylan to her Edie Sedgwick) but Sienna Miller was all about authenticism.
'There's nothing worse than seeing a sex scene where someone's got a T-shirt on because it's unrealistic,' she told The Telegraph . So I think that if you're going to do it, do it.'
It was the film that earned itself an R rating in the States for an oral sex scene featuring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, but both actors maintain they were happy with their performances in Blue Valentine .
Michelle told Reuters at the time, 'When we shot that scene, both Ryan and Derek [ Cianfrance, the director ] said to me, 'If this bothers you when you see it in the movie, we'll take it out'...
' [ When I saw it ] I thought, 'I've never seen that before in a movie and I'm proud to be the first. Good on us for making that happen.' As the woman in the situation that was in question, I found absolutely nothing scandalous, tawdry or disgusting about it.'
Gosling mirrored her sentiments about the film, saying to W Magazine (about one particularly steamy moment): 'You mean the trying-not-to-have-sex sex scene? It was hard... a lot of times actors can trick people into thinking something is happening when it’s not happening, and we had to call ourselves out on anything that didn’t feel honest.
'Actors become very professional and proficient about watching out for each other’s light and not stepping on each other’s lines. All of these things are artificial, and you have to strip that away if you’re going to achieve a sense of intimacy. In real life sex is messy, and we wanted to get at that wonderful messiness.'
We always knew we loved Jake – and not just because he once dated Taylor Swift ...
Speaking to HollywoodLife.com about sex scenes with Anne Hathaway in Love and Other Drugs , he commented: 'It's a naturally awkward thing to be having fake cinematic sex with anybody, so I feel like with an actress... when you're on a set and dealing with what is usually a majority of men on a movie set, I always feel like it's my responsibility to, kind of, protect and make sure that she feels comfortable because they tend to be more objectified.'
He continued, 'So to ease [ Anne ] and make her feel comfortable, I was always like, 'Where do you want me to go? What do you want me to do? What do you feel comfortable doing?''
He went on to say, however: 'Anne was always like, 'You do your thing and I'll do my thing. I'm fine on my own!''
Cool and in control – that's the Anne we know!
After Anne Reid, at 68, performed a sex scene with Daniel Craig in British drama The Mother she said she had regrets... regrets that she wasn't wild enough!
'I wish I’d been more adventurous, sexually wilder, in the film,' she told the Radio Times . 'I was worried I’d look a fool but, oh blimey, no. I don’t regret it. I got noticed.'
In happier days, when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were still 'Brangelina'.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly , Angelina said: 'Love scenes are strange anyway, but when you’re doing a love scene with a person that you really have sex with? The only way to get through it was for us to all talk about the absurdity of it and make sure no one was feeling awkward.'
"This is pretty random - what do you want for dinner?" * Sounds all very sensible to us!
Ben Afflecks's new crime/drima, Live by Night , is no laughing matter - that's until in came to those bedroom scenes. Sienna Miller, who play's Ben's lover in the film revealed to E! News. 'It's hysterical,' Miller said. 'Ben and I are like brother and sister, thank God, so there was no awkwardness. There was just a lot of stupid giggling. He's very professional—I am not, but he is.'
Sienna added: 'There was a montage in the script saying we did it everywhere: in the car, in the bar...I was like, 'That's an entire day of just love scenes! OK. How do we do this?'
'Obviously, by the time nine hours of it has gone past, I was shaking with tears running down my face. I mean, I can't tell you—but you have to laugh.'

A clichéd "bromance" film with all the wrong beats
That Awkward Moment seems like a promising comedy for guys, the raunchy humor, objectifying women and boner pills. It sounds like a good time, right? HELL NO!!! That Awkward Moment seizes every chance it gets to be as clichéd as possible and to be as unfunny as possible. Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan turn in acceptable performances but that is overshadowed by the thin-as-ice plot and crude humor, which ends up losing two good performances in the mix. To be fair to those involved, this film should have either been shelved or given more thought, either or doesn't give this film a leg to stand on. The next Knocked Up it is not. This is Sex and The City with too much testosterone and not nearly enough laughs to justify any of the plot holes, clichés or how these characters treat women. This isn't a rental, this is more like a bottom dollar movie you take a chance on at Wal Mart.
