There are beaches at either end of Thassos Town but smart sun-seekers inevitably head off by water taxi for the appropriately named resort of Golden Beach, Makryamos and Skala Potamia. The Greek mainland around the ferry port of Keramoti and the regional capital of Kavala have their own attractions for a wider range of visitors and a hydrofoil service links Kavala with Thassos.
