ThankYou's statement about tournament hosting ban
Good morning!
This is not the kind of statement I would like to make, but it is one I am obliged to make.
From this moment, I'm banned from tournaments hosting for 6 months. In my case, the permission to play tournaments and attend as a non-host part of tournament staff looks rather ridiculous, since I rarely appear in staff lists of other tournaments and haven't participated anywhere as a player for several years. I'd say that in my opinion it's like a full-fledged tournament ban.
The reason for this punishment is a conflict based on maps 1 and 2 regarding content usage rules, because they have restrictions on their use. This happened after the last 4K Mania tournament - X-Project 2 4K Tournament.
My explanation: I don't blame the mappoolers because I regularly check the TCom website, check the copyright permissions for songs on YouTube, and make sure that the artist has no restrictions in the Russian Federation or osu! both. Most likely, a second line appeared in the yellow zone of the checking tool, and there were no maps in the red zone. As far as the current state of the bot is concerned, that is the case. Considering that this happened 4-5 months ago, and I didn't receive a response to my long review or was given blatant nonsense, it's simply impossible to reconstruct the correct storyline.
Consequences:
- I disagree with this decision in any case, because the review process was drawn out and I wasn't informed about its progress at all. I only received replies to my pings in Discord with things like "we decide what is not up to us". The notification about the tournament ban came about ~90 hours ago (for the moment of publishing this article).
- As I remain the ownership of play-osu.ru, I won't be participating in the organisation of tournaments on the project for the next 6 months, but I'll still resolve all operational issues and make all other decisions not related to the tournament process. Also I won't participate as staff on other tournaments during this period.
- The above action is also required for the proper functioning of the system associated with Moscow osu! Event, so this will help avoid difficulties with the qualifier stages in the future for us.
- My fundamental position will lead to refusing participating as commentator on any of the tournaments during this period. Accordingly, I'll skip my role as a commentator for #russian osu cup & OWC on RUCAST. This is also done in order not to compromise the projects in any way, because now I absolutely can't trust the actions of the TC, which has made and continues to make ambiguous, illogical and inconsistent decisions. Unfortunately, the chiv's report didn't help, and the recruitment process to the tournament committee changed my opinion on 180 degrees.
- Will this affect the preparation for all tournament series on play-osu? Yes, moreover, there are unannounced offline events that are currently in danger of being cancelled, as I was supposed to be the only geographically available host for it.
I will return to the subject of this statement in a broader format one day, but now is not the time.
A limited staff members from MOE/play-osu has been aware of what has been happening over the last 90 hours. Thank you for your support! I am staying with you, but for the next 6 months it will be in an advisory capacity.
