I honestly don't care about overhype

I honestly hate overwatch, stereotypical blizzard game- have your hands on a million hot keys to summon this loser to cast this spell to bla bla bla. the artstyle and story is very unoriginal. And it's copying of tf2. Plus the maps that i seen are pretty bad. And i dont understand? why is everybody going to overwatch and not any other game? Just cuz its hyped. And moba+fps=trash.

Wow thats a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ comparison Domination,auto balance and killcams make like 5% of the total gameaplay.

Subreddit for all things Overwatch™, the team-based shooter from Blizzard Entertainment.
The question of the day is which is better TF2 or Overwatch? Yes I realize that I am posting this on the overwatch subreddit but it is a question that has been around since overwatch came out.
Most of the post is my opinion about both the games so if you don't like reading then just go ahead and leave a comment on this post with your answer and even a little bit of a reason of why you choose that. But if yo like reading then just buckle up for a trip into my opinions.
If you do not know what TF2 is I will explain. TF2 stands for Team Fortress 2 and is a class based shooter(very similar to Overwatch) that was released in 2007. TF2 is considered the granddaddy of the genre of class based shooter and with good reason. The game has nine different classes and each class has a different playstyle just like overwatch..... I know the two games are very similar that is why the question has been around for so long.
I will end with my opinion on the question. Personally I hated Overwatch when it first came out because my whole life I have played TF2. It is currently my most played game on steam with 256 hours of playtime. I know that might not be a lot but I don't play very much so it is a good bit for me. The point is I didn't like Overwatch when it came out because I thought it was a complete carbon copy of TF2. And that bothered me because of how TF2 has been a game around for years and is one of my favorite games of all time. But I started to watch a little bit of Overwatch on Youtube and I started to see that the game wasnt just a copy it was a whole new look on the genre. So the more and more I watched videos I decided to try the game out. So I did a free weekend of Overwatch just to prove that I was right about my original opinion. I was instantly hooked.(Because my favorite hero was soldier and the hook wasn't patched yet) I had enough money so I bought the game right away. I have played the game for about 3 months now and I am still having fun playing it as a Junkrat main. But finally my answer.
Now I am still loving Overwatch but TF2 comes out on top in my opinion why? well I have lots of reasons but I will just say the main one I have.
Each class has a complete rooster of different weapons you can earn and switch to at any time in the game. and yes TF2 dosnt have as many classes as Overwatch. but you can play each class a different way 4 times over because of the different loadouts you can create. you can be a support runner you can be a battle medic you can even be a Scottish Reinhardt. All these things bring more diversity to TF2 more then Overwatch in my opinion.
So that is it. that is pretty much everything I feel about the subject. Please leave a comment on this post about what you think, I am dying to see what everyone says.
TF2 is tried and true, and also cluttered and it still has some balance issues that have been there for years, one of its gamemodes is utterly worthless, some of the maps aren't very good and it's also overdone from the years of existance.
Overwatch is new, fresh ground, but it has some mechanical issues, we're still trying to figure out what we can do with it.
The verdict: God damn neither of them. Each of them has one bad thing for each good thing, neither are perfect. I found it funny that you see the optional weapons in TF2 as a pro to it, because I see every weapon set after the very first alternate as a huge detriment to the game, since again, it's almost all clutter and uninteresting. Just play the one you want.
Oh but can you think of one game that is "Perfect"
Prepare for downvoting from everyone here. It's like a cult here most of the time. "HOW CAN WE SUCK MORE OF THE DEV'S COCKS?!" is what it is here most of the time.
Well I mean the devs themselves actually said they loved TF2 and they were honored to have there game compared to TF2.

My opinion is different from your opinion because my reasoning concludes the exact opposite of what your reasoning concludes, and that's ok.
Exactly that is what discussion is all about. but why do you think that?
TF2 overcomplicates things with stats and weapons. Want to play medic? Here's some things to remember: you heal faster when your teammates have gotten out of combat for over 10 seconds (called crit healing), use the uber saw because you can get uber charge off of enemies, but don't use it because you're not going to be charging into battle attacking everyone, remember that if your heal target is being attacked by a pyro, your heal speed on them is lower than normal by a percentage completely inconsistant from the 25% the patch notes claim. Speaking of patch notes. keep and eye on them because weapon stats could change making your once $5 Strange Quick-Fix now only 80 cents.
the only thing I really like about tf2 now is just the cosmetics. It's easy to distinguish yourself compared to everyone. That's about it. That and the strange weapons, but then again, Overwatch has something better: actual career statistics.
This is very true the cosmetics are very nice but I never really got into those. What do you mean by actual career stats?
Can we just not have this argument? The better game is the one you enjoy more, period.
It is not really an argument unless people make it one its a discussion. But yes this is the internet but reddit put theses discussions here for a reason.

OVERWATCH vs TF2: Is Newer Always Better? (subtitled Overwatch VS TF2 ) is the 7th episode of Deadlock on The Game Theorists
