TextNab lets you copy text from images and videos on a web page using on-device OCR (optical character recognition). This policy explains how it handles your data.

Summary

TextNab reads and recognizes text entirely on your own device. Your images, screenshots, and the recognized text are never sent to us or to any third party, and we do not collect, store, or sell any of your data.

What the extension does with data

Images and on-screen text you select: the extension takes a picture of the visible page and recognizes the text in your selection locally, in your browser. This image and the recognized text stay on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.

Clipboard: the recognized text is copied to your clipboard so you can paste it.

Settings: your chosen OCR language is saved locally in your browser.

The one network request (language packs)

Most languages are built into the extension and work fully offline. If you choose a language that is not built in, the extension downloads that language data file one time from the public model host tessdata.projectnaptha.com, then caches it for offline use. This request downloads only a language model file and contains none of your images, text, or personal data.

Data we collect

None. We do not collect, transmit, store, or sell any personal data, browsing history, or the content you recognize. There are no analytics or tracking in the extension.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Our use of information obtained through the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

Children

TextNab is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
