Breaking News: Tenoch Huerta Mejía to Star in New Indigenous-Led Superhero Film

Mexico City, March 27, 2025 — Fresh off his global success as Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta Mejía has been cast as the lead in an upcoming superhero film centered on an Indigenous hero. The project, tentatively titled Yahui, is being developed by a coalition of Latin American filmmakers and will be co-produced by Guillermo del Toro’s production company.

Huerta, known for his activism and advocacy for Indigenous representation in Hollywood, expressed his excitement about the role. Director Ángel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) is reportedly in talks to helm the project, with filming expected to begin in late 2025 across locations in Mexico and Guatemala.
