Fresh off a 48-point, 27% shooting night against Arkansas, the Tennessee Volunteers will be eager to make things right. Luckily, a matchup with the reeling Missouri Tigers will be just what the doctor ordered — as our college basketball picks explain.
The No. 17 Tennessee Volunteers are traveling to Mizzou Arena to take on the Tigers Tuesday night.
The Vols have won four of five — including a 13-point win over No. 4 Kentucky — but followed it up with a 48-point dud against Arkansas, so they should be motivated to get back on track tonight.
Missouri has quickly become one of the SEC's bottom-feeders, having lost three in a row and eight of 10 with an offense that's struggling to keep pace against superior competition.

Tennesse opened as 10.5-point favorites in this matchup with a total of 130. The spread hasn't shown any movement but there are some different totals available across the board — anywhere from 129.5 to 130.5 — at the time of this writing.

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game. Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.
Tennessee is the much better team in this matchup. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
The Volunteers are ranked 12th in the nation, according to KenPom , including a fourth-best mark in adjusted defensive efficiency, compared to marks of 140th and 136th for Missouri.
Coming off a tough road loss where Rick Barnes' squad put up a season-low 48 points, the Vols offense will look to get right and a date with Missouri's defense couldn't come at a better time.
The Tigers rank outside the Top 200 in scoring defense and allow an effective field goal percentage of 50.8% (222nd) and a 3-point percentage of 35.3% (269th).
The Vols offense averages 8.8 3-point makes per game and will be motivated to bounce back from a 48-point dud.
On the other side of the ball, this is a Tigers team that has scored just 56, 49, and 57 points in its last three outings and while they've had much more success at home (68.6 ppg at home, 60.1 ppg on the road), they'll be in tough against a top-tier defense of Tennesse's caliber.
Mizzou is generally sloppy on offense (313th in turnover rate), struggles from the perimeter (5.1 made threes per game), and just doesn't have the offensive talent to compete with a Volunteers squad fighting for the top spot in the SEC.
This is a big number for any team to cover on the road but with a weekend date with No. 3 Auburn looming, Tennessee will want to put this game out of reach as quickly as possible.
Back the Volunteers to bounce back and secure a comfortable road win.
Prediction : Tennessee -10.5 (-110)
The total for tonight's contest is sitting at a low 130 but that might be too much of an overcorrection from these teams' recent performances.
Tennessee and Arkansas played to 106 points on Saturday while Missouri has stayed well Under in three straight games thanks in large part to its sub-60-point contributions.
Even if the Tigers drop another offensive stinker, this low total can still be surpassed with the Vols doing the heavy lifting as this is a matchup that lends itself to Tennessee getting whatever they want offensively.
It'll have a ton of quality looks from beyond the arc, will be playing with a ton of energy as the Vols try to right the wrongs of their 48-point outing last time out, and could very easily eclipse 75 points against a defense that may not be able to show much resistance.
The Over is 5-0 in Tennessee's last five games following a sub-50 point scoring night. If Mizzou gets anywhere near their home scoring average of 68.6, it should cash pretty easily.
Backing a favorite on the road, especially with a double-digit number like this one, is rarely something I would recommend doing, but this is really tricky spot for the Tigers.
They're suiting up for the third time in five nights and are being met with a Tennesse team that will be extra-motivated for a number of reasons.
They'll want to shed the 48-point, 27% shooting night they had against Arkansas over the weekend and will want to make quick work of the Tigers as they prepare for No. 3 Auburn on Saturday.
The Vols have huge advantages on both sides of the ball and should have no issues finding separation tonight. Lay the number.
