Telegram Emoji Reactions

Summary/Points: the potential of implementation is unlimited.

1. Provide 1,2 or 3 (positive) reactions in the beginning. (:heart:, :thumbsup:)

2. Let users disable reactions on their end. (Instagram)

3. limit reactions counter with "100+".

4. provide reactions only in 1-to-1 chats first. (alone these points will "reduce the pressure" and will be much appreciated IMHO).

5. indirect profit by using the reactions to vote for things, which we do extensively, e.g. on Slack (pizza/beer/option1/option2).

6. the implementation will make workarounds and half-native bots for reactions obsolete.

7. less key presses -> a. select a message to reply on, b. select emoji keyboard, c. find emoji, d. type the emoji, e. send the emoji. Versus: hold the message and select the reaction (Signal style).

8. Implementing something gives you a starting point for improvements and continuous feedback.

9. make a beta/experimental test as with the video calls and get some feedback.

10. there are bad people and bad opinions everywhere, so it's important to concentrate on good ones. Progress is not to be stopped.

11. If you take iMessage, they have memojis, heart-beat and other creative implementations. iMessage sucks, but at least they are trying out new things :)
