South Africans took to social media on Monday to voice their anger following a video showing young people having sex in public on Saturday night.
In a video posted by Kaashifah Kopp on Facebook, a young couple can be seen kissing, while another, right next to them, is seen having sex and using a wall for support.
She said: “Who you are is a choice, and shouldn’t be influenced by who you choose to surround yourself with! The video below is something we recorded Saturday night, on the main road in Melville, down the road from Ideal cafe. These girls literally met these guys a few minutes before this happened. We overheard the one guy mentioning that ‘he didn’t even get her name’.”
She said she tried to warn the girls in the video against having sex in public but they still went ahead with it, so she took a video “to make them famous instead”.
“As for the people cheering them on? You’re nothing better!”
She asked people to share the clip until they could “find their parents”.
The South African Sexual Offences Act 23 says: “Any person 18 years or older who in public commits any act of indecency with another person, shall be guilty of an offence.”
Should the young couple be identified, they will receive a fine of not more than R4,000 or face imprisonment for a period of not more than two years “or both such fine and such imprisonment”.
However, nobody’s features are clear in the footage.

An appalled Hong Kong hotel guest captured the scandalous moment two shameless couples decided to get jiggy with it in the facility’s jacuzzis. A video of their hot tub hanky-panky session is blowing up online.
“I did not expect to see people doing this when I stood on my balcony,” the unnamed videographer told Viral Press of the lecherous quartet’s aquatic romp. The NSFW double date went down July 1 in a high-rise hotel room in the North Point area of the Vertical City.
The steamy 35-second clip, filmed from the cameraman’s veranda, shows an unidentified man performing a randy sex act on a woman in an open-air hot tub a floor below in full view and earshot of the surrounding rooms. In both shots, the woman is seen enjoying a bowl of noodles, bringing a whole new meaning to “send noods.”
The footage then zooms in on the second pair of lovebirds, who are seen having intercourse in another — thankfully enclosed — hot tub like a scene out of the Playboy Bunny Ranch. If that wasn’t bad enough, families can be seen splashing about on the ground floor, apparently oblivious to the salacious antics transpiring above.
Needless to say, the hotel horndogs could apparently face serious jail time for their whirlpool romance.
Hong Kong lawyer Albert Luk Wai-hung told local media that public sex is illegal.
“A person who, without lawful authority or excuse, in any public place or in view of the public, indecently exposes any part of his body, shall be guilty of an offense and shall be liable on conviction of a fine and imprisonment for up to six months,” he said.
Unfortunately, the official said the videographer could also be penalized for filming the sordid display: “Further to this rule, the video taker may have also violated the Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance and could be duly punished.”
However, the cameraman maintains that he had filmed the couple as a favor to law enforcement.
“‘The rooms were not private,” he insisted. “They were aware that other hotel guests could see them. This is why I recorded their inappropriate behavior.”
This isn’t the first public sex display to make the rounds of late. In May, a UK couple took their love life to new heights while having sex on a cliff in full view of restaurant diners .

A BRAZEN couple sparked outrage after being spotted having sex in a public park in front of horrified families.
The shameless pair are now being investigated by police after being caught on camera by a gobsmacked onlooker in Bangkok, Thailand.
Footage shows how the couple continued the public romp for more than four minutes - despite kids playing nearby.
Stunned parkgoer, Rattana, said she watched as they took no notice of people walking through the Vachirabenjatas Park, near the city's Chatuchak Weekend Market.
She said she wanted to capture the indecent act "so the authorities could investigate".
Rattana said: "It was worse before I started the recording. They totally forgot that they were in a public area.
"These people have no sense of basic decency. There were children around us and families were walking all over the park."
The shocked onlooker added that the spot was near a playground where there were several children playing, but the exhibitionist pair still carried on romping.
"The couple did not budge even after people started to walk right next to the fence behind them." Rattana added.
Cops interviewed Rattana and visited the park today, finding a condom packet which they believe was used by the couple.
Lieutenant Colonel Somchit from the Phahon Yothin district police station said they officers had watched the video and opened an investigation.
He said: 'There are CCTV cameras in the area so we are checking those to try to find where the couple went to after the park. We're also checking to see if there are any in the park that recorded them.
"A condom wrapper was found in the park and from the video evidence and the witness, we believe a crime has been committed so we want to interview the two young people."
The pair in the video, taken on February 13, have not yet been identified, but police are continuing to investigate.
Public indecency in Thailand is punishable with a fine not exceeding 5,000 Baht (£117).
