Jeremy Forrest was wrong but my love for teen is OK
A MUM pregnant by her teenage lover says she feels SYMPATHY for pervert teacher Jeremy Forrest, adding: “You can’t help who you fall in love with”.
Kelly Jones got knocked up by toyboy partner Brian Walton, who she met when he was just 16.
She was branded a paedophile and cradle snatcher on Facebook after falling for the teenager, and spoke out to defend age-gap relationships just two weeks after Forrest was jailed for abduction and having sex with an under-age girl.
But Kelly insists her relationship is different from theirs — because she is an older woman with a younger boy.
Kelly said: “It’s wrong because he was a teacher and she was a schoolgirl. But the fact that they fell in love — you can’t help that.
“He breached his position in the school. He betrayed his wife. He was a teacher who went with someone who is a student.
“Their relationship is different from ours because I’m the older one. I think girls are more vulnerable than boys at a younger age.
“There’s a difference between a mature man falling in love with a teenage girl and a 30-year-old woman falling in love with a teenage boy.
“Older men take advantage of younger girls but it doesn’t really happen the other way round.
‘Age gap never bothered me’ “Forrest did the wrong thing in going to France with the girl. He showed he had something to hide.
“We’ve never hidden our relationship. We’ve dealt with all the criticism and we’re still together now.
“If he had waited until she had left school and he wasn’t married any more then it wouldn’t have been as bad.
“Everyone’s expecting her to stay with him but I don’t think she will wait for the whole five years.
“I think she feels obliged to stay with him because he’s been arrested and he’s gone to jail. She’s young and she’s going to find someone else.”
Kelly was introduced to Brian, now 19, after her sister — who worked as a classroom assistant at his old school — heard a rumour that she was sleeping with him in July 2010.
Kelly then tracked him down on Facebook and messaged him to demand an explanation — but it proved to be a mix-up over a different girl with the same name.
Brian then met Kelly to apologise for the confusion — and a few days later they ended up in bed.
Kelly, who has a daughter aged 14 and a six-year-old son from previous relationships, said: “When I messaged him on Facebook I thought he seemed really cocky and arrogant — a typical 16-year-old boy.
“But when I met up with him I was surprised how easy-going he was. It felt as if I’d known him for a long time.
“I definitely felt an attraction and one thing led to another.
“It felt weird, knowing I was sleeping with a teenage boy, but the sex was great. He was better in bed than men my own age.
“He had lots more energy and he really wanted to please me.”
Brian said: “When I met Kelly I thought she was easy to get on with. I felt I could talk to her about anything. When we slept together it felt totally
different to when I had been with girls my own age.
“I felt really comfortable with Kelly. With girls my age, you sleep with them and if you don’t see them again it’s not a big deal.
“But with Kelly I didn’t feel like that. There was something there between us.”
The couple started seeing each other regularly and a few weeks later news of their relationship came out.
Kelly, from Holyhead in Anglesey, north Wales, received hate messages on her
Facebook page, where she was branded a paedophile.
The strain of their 16-year age gap became too much and four months later she ended the relationship.
She said: “The gap started to play on my mind. I told my mum and she said he
was too young and I should be with someone my own age. She said I should be concentrating on my kids.
“One of my sisters stopped speaking to me properly, too. I expected a backlash so it didn’t come as a surprise. But a schoolfriend of my daughter made fun of her, saying, ‘Your mum is going out with a kid’ and that upset me.
“On Facebook someone called me a paedophile and said I was running a youth club. It was horrible and upsetting.
“I did have support from my friends and one of my other sisters. She said that if I was happy then she was happy too and that age is nothing but a number.
“But the nasty comments kept playing on my mind. It was too much pressure in the end.”
Brian added: “When Kelly ended it I was distraught. It came as a complete shock and I didn’t expect to feel so sad.
“Being a lad, you just get off with one girl then move on to another — but it wasn’t like that with Kelly.
“I didn’t want to be with anyone else. I realised I’d fallen in love with her.”
Two weeks later the couple could no longer bear to be apart — despite the large age gap — and got back together.
Both their families grew to accept the relationship and the nasty comments on Facebook stopped.
Kelly, who is due to give birth in September, said: “I don’t care what anyone else thinks about my relationship now.
I know that he’s a teenager but it doesn’t feel weird to me. It’s my life and I’m happy.
“I could be with someone who is the same age as me and I could be really miserable. I’m grateful that I’ve got a wonderful relationship. The age is
just not an issue any more.”
Brian added: “Our age gap never bothered me. Kelly doesn’t look her age and she doesn’t act it.
“She’s responsible but she’s also fun to be around.”
He added: “I don’t feel like I’m missing out as a teenager. Kelly doesn’t stop me going out with the lads, but I find that now I don’t really want to —
it’s boring.
“I feel excited about my future with Kelly and the new baby.”
Kelly added: “In the past I have worried about the future.
“When he is 25 he might think he has missed out and will want to go and do it all then.
“I know that people can change from being a teenager to their twenties. But ever since I met Brian he hasn’t seemed like a teenage boy.
“He acts older than he is and I act younger than I am, so we meet in the middle. It’s the perfect match.”

Nicholas Redgate had exchanged intimate photographs with the victim and another girl, who was 14

Predatory Nicholas Redgate had sex with a 13-year-old girl after befriending her through Facebook.
The then 18-year-old met up with the victim after they exchanged intimate photographs of one another online.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard they had sex four times before the girl’s mother found out and reported Redgate to the police.
It emerged he had also befriended a 14-year-old girl through Facebook and sent her sexually explicit messages and photographs.
Prosecutor Andrew Long said Redgate, who is now 19, had first contacted the 13-year-old victim last summer. He said: “She was befriended by the defendant on Facebook. She initially told him she was 16, but subsequently said she was 13. He said that was OK but they would have to keep it a secret.
“He sent her pictures of himself showing his penis and encouraged her to send pictures of herself which she did, showing her bra and breasts.
“They arranged to meet up and he asked her to be in a relationship with him. After a few dates they had sex. They had sex four times.
“Her mum became aware of what was going on and reported the matter to the police.”
The court heard Redgate’s other victim received a Facebook friend request from him earlier last year.
Mr Long said: “The defendant engaged in chat with her and quickly started to send sexual messages.
“Eventually she stopped replying to him. She was concerned she had given enough information for him to find her and asked to stay off school.
“Her mum and auntie confronted her about the messages and she admitted what had happened.”
The court heard that, in October 2016, Redgate had been given a conditional caution by police for similar behaviour.
He pleaded guilty to three charges of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one offence of sexual activity with a child.
Amy Jackson, mitigating, said Redgate had only found out that he 13-year-old was underage a short time before they slept together. “This was a criminal act by a very stupid and immature young man,” she said.
“He told a probation officer that he understands how this could scar and affect these young girls. This is an indication, along with his guilty pleas, that he has accepted this was wrong.”
Miss Jackson argued that the public could better be protected from Redgate if he undertook intensive one-to-one work with the Probation Service rather than receiving an immediate prison sentence.
Judge David Fletcher handed Redgate, of Newfield Street, Tunstall , a three-year community order, as part of which he must complete a programme to address his offending behaviour.
Judge Fletcher said: “I think there is a sufficient prospect of rehabilitation in your case.
“You have to grow up very quickly and you have to understand that this sort of behaviour will never be sanctioned, and any behaviour like this in the future will result in an immediate prison sentence.”
An indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which includes restrictions on Redgate’s contact with children and his use of computers, was also imposed.
He will be on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
