My 15-year-old son told me that he is a cross-dresser. He also asked me if I could help him paint his nails red. Should I let him wear girls’ clothes and makeup? If yes, what kind of clothes? Should I take him to get a manicure or a pedicure? Should I give him the makeover he desires? I want to be a good parent but I don’t know what cross-dressing help looks like here. Help!
I think that a young person who is exploring gender identity or sexuality needs a safe place to do so and having a trusted adult helps. In my clinic, I see many youth who are more “gender bending” and fluid in their expression of masculinity and femininity these days. Still, teenagers who express themselves in ways different than most other teenagers find themselves the targets of bullying or violence. I think a good place to start is to get in contact with a community group (like TransFamily of Greater Cleveland) in order to have a safe place for self-expression and meet other people who identify as transgender.
There are many identities within the transgender community including transsexuals, cross dressers, performers, people with disorders of sexual development (DSDs) and those who simply identify as “queer.” Your son may be able to meet others with a similar experience and have an opportunity to find his path.
A recent study by a colleague of mine who also cares for gender variant youth noted that the young people in his practice had a high rate of mood disorders and that one in nine youth had self-injurious behavior. These findings underscore the importance of mental health support in addition to having an affirming, accepting environment.

Tom Komrowski looks pretty in pink for his school prom after teachers agreed he could dress in drag.  
The 16-year-old from Rhode Island, USA, donned a blonde wig and a pretty pink dress before heading to his school’s end of year party.
And the former tomboy who used to love frog fishing and Star Wars looked so convincing as a teenage girl none of his classmates even recognised him.

Tom said: ‘I was nervous before I went to the prom but when I got there a lot of people didn’t even recognise me at first.
‘But when they realised who I was, a lot of them told me how great I looked, and a lot of the girls even asked me for make-up tips!
‘I danced with one guy, he knew I was a boy, and didn’t have a problem with it. It was amazing because I used to get bullied a lot.
"It was nice the other kids finally accepted me." Since he was 14, Tom has taken to wearing make-up, girls’ skinny jeans, and tight T-shirts every day.
Many of his classmates call him Hailee, a change Tom is hoping will become permanent.

He has even asked his parents, who have always supported Tom's choices, to start calling him by his favourite girl’s name.
His mum Amy, a hospital nurse, said: ‘By the time Tom was 15 he told his dad Tom Sr and I he was transgendered.
‘We weren’t upset about that - just worried that life was going to be so much harder for him.
‘After he told us it was obvious how much happier he was and how much enjoyment he got out of expressing himself with what he wore.’ 
But when Tom started borrowing his mother’s clothes and make-up she decided it was time to help him get his own wardrobe.
She said: ‘One morning I was getting ready for work and I couldn’t find any of my clothes, everything was in the wrong drawer!
‘I put everything back where it belonged and forgot about it but later that week the same thing happened.
Family support: Tom's parents were happy for their son and were only worried that he may face bullies, but that was not the case
‘Then one of my favourite pairs of high heels went missing, Tom and I were had the same size 10 feet, and I knew it was him.
‘There was only one solution, we went shopping and bought him some girls’ jeans, and make-up of his own.
‘He loves fishnets and revealing clothes but I wouldn’t let my teenage girl wear that outside so he’s not allowed to either.’ 
Amy wasn’t surprised when Tom asked her to help him get clothes for his prom and headed to a bridal dress store.
She said: ‘We found a great dress and spent hours together sewing on a sash and making it perfect.
‘We went to a beauty salon to have mother-son manicure-pedicures and on the day I helped him comb his blonde wig and did his make-up, which was great, as he normally wants to do it himself.

‘I was so proud of his bravery when I dropped Tom off at the prom, to be himself, no matter what other people might think.
‘There are still schools across America that would have banned Tom from attending the prom like that.
‘But in the end Tom had a fantastic night, a lot of his school friends didn’t even recognise him.
‘He told me later how he'd even danced with a couple of boys he liked - and they knew who he was under the dress. It was a dream night for him.’ 
Tom is considering taking female hormones to become more feminine when he’s older.
Amy said: ‘I used to think about him getting married to a woman, not becoming a woman, but now I don’t care what Tom does so long as he is happy.
‘That’s the most important thing for us.’

This is a number 10 dress I created for my seminar. I absolutely love this dress. It has ruffled skirt, then it's lined in red, so YOU CAN PEEK thru the holes, which every red blooded man wants to do. Peek thru the keyhole or stick something in any hole, they see.
I told you , it was sexy. My shoes have ties and that's bondage, I can't run, but hobble, or fall down...woe is me. Who will save me from the big bad wolf?
this photo has been overlooked and its one of my favorite, a cropped version just hit 100,000.
i am not a cd, tv or crossdresser but many of my friends are.
the cropped version is here. Close up and emphasis on shoes, toes, etc. This is my famous vintage crinoline, it's so scratchy.

My red heart dress. The print is red tiny hearts, and the neckline is a heart shape.
The red pussy cat bow is at the point of the heart, not too deep now. This is my teaching dress for femininity seminar. I designed it with subliminal signals to attract men. Or that special man, but crowds of happily married men, can't help but look.
The fake hem, is circles, and has fake white petticoat incorporated in the design. A red ribbon bow is top of the arc. The skirt is double circle. I can raise it up to my head.
White lace pant hose, and plastic red see through mules, sandals, slides.
Wooden heels. Of course the beautiful sheer petticoat. My hall in my house, it fools some people who just keep walking into the next room, but it's the wall. I taught at home and I had makeup studio at home. When I walked into this house for sale, I said , it looks like a bar, or a whore house. Ahhh perfect for me. This dress is 25 years old. A number ten.

I wish i could shoot this better. I used automatic focus and it needs to have the digital white thingee defeated. This top is silver threads and shines...like blinding light...and digital won't catch it...
you can see a bit on the back shoe...that shining silver.
The bottom is ENCRUSTED WITH STONES. It's crepe, that stetches,
assymetrical hem has a up flip in the front.
What a find this is. A treasure. It's above my knees but looks so cute.
I will wear this to church...its crisscross bustline...and fits so beautiful. Even the sleeves have slits...at wrists. These slits are ez access.
LADIEs...SILVER GOLD AND METAL IS HARD, SCRATCHY, Beads...glitter...a big no no no...men love soft material.
We women want glamour...thats ok but real feminine is silk, chiffon and feathers...sequins...are hard and a man doesn't want to snuggle up to hard things, cutting things.
These shoes...are all leather...and they are in the form of leaves...beautiful
My hubby gives me all that i want or need.

Home from church on Sunday. This top is lined lace. The skirt is tight to the body but the panels flow outward. I'm holding it out so you can see it.

I adore. This dress, is halter neck and no bra, and no back and the material is dotted swiss....and its piped all the ruffles with white....see the bottom and the stole.
