1-3-2021 UPDATE: The .zip file for this hack contains three .ips files: the Final Shell Shock patch being playable on all hardware and in all emulators, with each of the respective Re-Shelled patches allowing players a better sound experience when using the Terraonion MegaSD cartridge (for MD+ sound) or Mega Everdrive cartridge (for MSU-MD sound).
Patch ONLY ONE of the .ips files to your original SoR2 rom, depending on what emulator/system you intend to use.
Originally released on 5/24/2020, eskayelle ’s ultimate vision comes to fruition with this final set of mods in the TMNT of Rage series.
On an alternate timeline in an alternate universe, Mr. X and the Syndicate have fallen at the hands of those radical reptiles, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Furious with his latest failure to control the city, X enlists one Oroku Saki to capture the fearsome foursome’s greatest ally, April O’Neil.
Rage in their hearts and pizza in their bellies, the turtles jump into action, dead set on putting an end to Mr. X’s tyranny once and for all… and punish the Shredder for being complicit in the Syndicate’s nefarious misdeeds as well.
A direct descendant of eskayelle’s TMNT of Rage hack and its TMNT Remix successor, this mod adds the following to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of Rage experience:
And… those fantastic features from the previous mods in the series continue to kick shell:

Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is a great example of how much games have evolved. Even though we may have thought we wanted this classic "remake" this release shows that it is no longer enough to slap on a coat of paint to outdated gameplay.

The bottom line is that the game doesn't hold up very well, but it's mildly amusing to play for an hour or so, especially with friends.

With only the core game mode and two mild variations based on the same levels there's just not enough game here to warrant a purchase.

It may have been fun back in the 1990s but now there’s just not enough depth to gain any sort of prolonged enjoyment out of it. Short bursts in multiplayer can be mildly enjoyable, but for 800 points it’s simply not worth it. It’s crazy to think they were originally going to charge 1200 for what is a bare-bone remake.

On my second playthrough using another turtle, I realized that the turtles have their own unique special attacks, which changes things up a bit. That allows for 4 unique playthroughs using all of the turtles. Then I considered the Quick Play and Survival modes, not to mention 4 person co-op and the game suddenly seemed like a much better value to me. I … Expand

The second I started playing this is brought back memories of me and my friends meeting up weekends and after to school to drop quarters and play the day away. This is a pretty faithful remake, and the graphical upgrade adds a nice flair. I wish I still knew some of those people from the arcades, this would be a great way for us to have a reunion. Co-op for the win! This is a really fun game, but co-op is where it
I've always enjoyed the Turtles in Time Arcade, SNES port and even the Genesis scaled down port over the years and here we are again I've always enjoyed the Turtles in Time Arcade, SNES port and even the Genesis scaled down port over the years and here we are again with another version of that timeless classic. TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled. When I first heard the announcement of this game I was really excited. CAM videos were soon posted online showing the ingame action and it looked pretty impressive. For those wondering, this port is closer to the Arcade rather than the SNES version which had extra stages. So how does it fair up in the end? Graphics: The Singapore Konami studio has done a great job with the graphics. Although it's a matter of opinion on whether you like the old 80's slapstick turtle look or new serious look. Everything is nice and clean and the animation is all top notch for everything onscreen. Sound: Voices are great. The turtles and the announcers voices and sound effects are clear and free of static as you should expect from a new game. Music however is unfortunately bland. The tunes have been remixed but lack the serious excitement and fun that the original Arcade soundtrack had. I'm not sure who was in charge of music but they honestly get a FAIL in my books. Sorry. Gameplay: The game plays great and is just as easy to control as the original arcade was. You'll notice though that you get a bit of a different feel than you would playing the original. This might be because some of the animation from the original isn't as smooth looking as this game. Still though no gripes in this department. Lasting appeal: Since I only downloaded this game this morning, I only was able to try out the first 3 levels. However there's plent of achievements to unlock and with the fact that this game supports 4 player co-op I'm sure this'll be one of those titles that you can keep going back to again and again. Overall: Konami Singapore did a great job with this game. It breathes new life into a classic arcade game that many of us enjoyed in the late 80's - early 90's and allows younger players who're new to the franchise to enjoy it with the turtles they're familiar with today. Overall 8/10. … Expand

They removed all the great music (didn't even remix it!), removed all the great battle quotes, changed the fighting engine for the worse (special attacks don't even drain health now), and made numerous other changes that ruin the experience. They didn't even bother to balance this out by offering new content, more moves, making the turtles more unique, etc. All in all, the whole experience is a childhood train wreck. Don't waste $10 on this. Go hunt down the SNES cart or something. … Expand

They completely changed the fighting system and as such removed all the strategy and thought that was required in the original. The graphics were good but the new soundtrack is awful, they should have kept the original songs and re-done them with new instruments because it was one of the best videogame soundtracks ever IMO. What a waste of time and money. … Expand
