I have to admit t this is a difficult review for me! It raises more questions than answers as to who Miklos really is! It leaves no doubt he is gay but ( for me)confuses the issue of his relationship with Danny. Is Danny sexually attracted to Mik, but unable to convey this to him? We are told that Danny has not had a girlfriend, only casual encounters,, until he meets Dierdia(?). Until the gf, he and Mik were closer than glue to wallpaper! The r*pe scene was also telling, in that he didn't have to do it (just punched him out) but did so letting his latent sexual desires come to the surface! As to the ending, that's a puzzle I'm still trying to figure out! Part of the puzzle is the encouragement by his mother to follow his dream of going on this trip with Danny. But no, he is going to sacrifice this dream to be a caretaker for his mother, for the pregnant gf of Tom and tend to the the garden (sarcasm ) of his father while convalescing from his stroke! If a sequel were to be made, I think you would find that Mik marries the gf; she has a boy, so it will be named Tomi and he will get a post-card from Danny he is in a successful relationship with a rich sugar daddy and invites Mik to visit them in their multi million $ sea coast home! (This makes as much sense as their 'ending!'

In his 17th year, Miklós Vargas (Miles Szanto) world has come crumbling down. He had planned to run away and escape from his migrant family have been painfully undone by the accidental death of his older brother, Tomi. We see that Miklos is holding himself responsible because he was trying to talk to his brother. Miklos has a best friend Dan (Daniel Webber) that he feels attracted but those feelings are not returned when Dan meets a girl and begins to date. Miklos ends up in a drug den and well more things happen. This is not the happiest movie i have seen but it is one of the finest. The writing is outstanding, the acting by all especially Miles and Daniel are beautiful and poignant. The direction and the locations are spot on. This is a story of so many broken people and how they need each other. I give this movie the highest recommendations and be warned some scenes are brutally honest and such sadness.

Life seldom works out the way we want. This film is a complex and stimulating slice of life that worked out differently than expected for just about every character in the film. For me, that's a sign of an excellent and well-written screenplay, plot, and story-line.The acting in simply superb. That a short from the film as released on YouTube more than a year ago helped put it into perspective by seeing the entire film. From the sort I viewed earlier, I has questions about why it was a gay film as the two male leads apparently showed their shared sexual frustrations with one another and their own respective choices. The "mounting" climax between the two lead characters near the end of the film is brutal, violent, extremely sexy, loving, and forgiving...almost cathartic. See the film and be entertained. Some of it is challenging and frustrating to watch which, I think, is a reflection of its fine character development and direction. I wish I owned it to share.

I'm so ambivalent about this film. The acting was very good, but the plot had a disjointed quality. At times it seemed like just a sequence bad events, missed connections, and unresolved relationships. The end didn't make sense to me. I really didn't see what kept him home or understand what was between the two friends. Do best friends who are really upset actually have violent sex then connect emotionally for the first time? Not without merit or appeal. But really dark and grimy in parts. I feel like watching A Beautiful Thing or Shelter as a cleanser.

Nothing like what the title might lead you to expect. Painfully realistic about life and the intended and unintended consequences of actions. And yet with all of this, a love story. Watch it.

Well acted, sweet and tender moments, harsh and scary moments, a unique look at friendship, boundaries, family, forgiveness. Recommended watch.
