“Teenage Dream” is one of the biggest hits of Katy Perry’s career, and the accompanying music video is memorable for her steamy scenes with model Josh Kloss . On the ninth anniversary of the Teenage Dream album’s release, however, Kloss is claiming that the interaction with Perry he remembers most acutely was when she allegedly made inappropriate and nonconsensual contact with him at a social event. In a series of Instagram posts, Kloss lays out his history with the singer and says, “I saw Katy a couple times after her break up with Russel [ sic ]. This one time I brought a friend who was dying to meet her. It was Johnny Wujek’s birthday party at moonlight roller way. And when I saw her, we hugged and she was still my crush. But as I turned to introduce my friend, [Katy] pulled my Adidas sweats and underwear out as far as she could to show a couple of her guy friends and the crowd around us my penis. Can you imagine how pathetic and embarrassed i felt?”
Kloss adds that he did not speak up at the time because he needed to keep working with Perry and needed the money; he also claims he was “lorded over by her reps, about not discussing a single thing about anything regarding Katy publicly. And a couple interviews they edited and answered for me.” Across two more Instagram posts, Kloss says he wants to share his story to demonstrate that people in power can abuse it regardless of gender and says he has had great working experiences with Kim Kardashian West and Kris Jenner . “So, happy anniversary to one of the most confusing, assaulting, and belittling jobs I’ve ever done,” Kloss writes in a caption. “Yay #teenagedream .”

[Bridge] I'ma get your heart racing in my skin-tight jeans Be your teenage dream tonight Let you put your hands on me in my skin-tight jeans Be your teenage dream tonight (Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight) [Chorus] (You make me) You make me feel like I'm livin' a teenage dream The way you turn me on, I can't sleep Let's run away and don't ever look back Don't ever look back (No) My heart stops when you look at me Just one touch, now, baby, I believe This is real (Oh), so take a chance and don't ever look back Don't ever look back [Outro] I'ma get your heart racing in my skin-tight jeans Be your teenage dream tonight Let you put your hands on me in my skin-tight jeans Be your teenage dream tonight (Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight)

“Teenage Dream” was released as the second single from Perry’s studio album of the same name . The song became Perry’s second number one Hot 100 single from the album, following the number one peak of the previous single, “California Girls” .
While discussing “Teenage Dream,” Katy said that the song is about recapturing the dizzying, thrilling feeling of first love.
When you’re growing up and you’re falling in love for the first time, it’s such an amazing feeling that sometimes you can’t recycle again later on in your life. For me, being in love again now, it’s kind of the same feeling.
In 2018, NPR ranked this as the #63 greatest song by a female or nonbinary artist in the 21st century, saying:
While this era’s faux-woke, grill-sporting Katy Perry has taken a nosedive into a cyclone of dystopian kitsch, there was a time when her appeal was simple: Her nostalgic pop singles were silky and pristine, like a soft swirl of vanilla ice cream. At a time when pop can feel overstuffed with spectacle — multi-artist guest features, visual drops, strategically planned Twitter beef — listening to ‘Teenage Dream’ provokes wistful reconsideration of a classic formula, one whose subtlety and nuance can be easily overlooked. The song is a blissful memory encased in glass: ‘We can dance until we die / you and I,’ Perry sings, promising to stretch the ephemeral. The beauty is in stasis, sealed with a declaration: ‘We’ll be young forever.’
According to an interview from Billboard by Bonnie McKee, one of the songwriter’s of the song, the chorus came first:
“Teenage Dream” was the most difficult song I’ve ever been a part of. We wrote five different versions of it. We couldn’t get the lyrics right. Max Martin and Dr. Luke wrote most of the melody, and then Katy Perry and I were responsible for getting the lyrics right. We started with a hook – I usually start with a hook – but there were several different versions of the hook before “Teenage Dream” came together. We had some kind of filler shit that no one was feeling good about or satisfied with. Then I went off and had a good think with myself – looked at myself long and hard in the mirror and was like, “this is your Eminem 8 Mile moment – don’t fuck it up.” And then “teenage dream” came to me. So once we had the words "teenage dream,” the rest of it really fell into its place."
Best song I wrote… I think “Teenage Dream” takes the cake. That was just a song that everyone, from the obvious 15-year-old girls crying in the audience to their dad, was like “This song spoke to me.” I was actually just listening to Fall Out Boy’s song “Centuries.” I actually met the lead singer at a CAA party last year and he was like, “Hey, I’m a big fan of your writing, ‘Teenage Dream’ is one of my favorite songs.” He quotes it in the song and every time I hear it — I’m like, “Hey I wrote that!"
