Join us as we explore ways we can work together to create a more sustainable future for our community. This is a FREE opportunity for students 15-18 years old. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Teen Eco Summit combines inspiring guest speakers, DIY workshops and of course, cool animals!
The kickoff event will be held on January 13, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (EST) over Zoom. This event will be recorded so schools can access this content at a later time if they are not able to participate in the full day. Our keynote speakers include Polar Bears International, Project DrawDown, The Wild Center and Hannah4Change. In addition we will hear from teens who have worked on sustainability projects, and learn important leadership skills which will help students to truly make an impact. Following this event, the Zoo will continue to connect with students through webinars designed to support specific project topics.

Online applications will be accepted until midnight on December 18, 2020. Space is limited, so teams should apply as soon as possible to secure a spot for this unique event. Teams will be accepted on a rolling basis and will be notified no later than December 31, 2020.
Step 1: Create a team of four to seven students to represent your school. School teams should be comprised of high school students entering 10th to 12th grade. In addition, each team will need to select a student team captain as well as a team advisor (school staff member).
Step 2: Identify sustainability projects which could benefit your school. For example, maybe your school could plant a school garden or create a recycling program. Think about what is important to your team and describe how it will help your school become more environmentally friendly.
Step 3: Apply to join us! We can’t wait to work with you to create a more environmentally friendly future.
