The other night, after I detached myself from the computer downstairs, Jeff and I retired to the bedroom. We were lying in bed, recounting funny Lily, Ben and Evan stories from the day. I was trying to manipulate a foot rub out of him by pathetically caressing his leg with my toes. My feet were still sore from the three hour stint in heels and I was desperate. Jeff blatantly ignored my efforts. Finally, I resorted to begging. Can you please just rub me? Puh – leeeease, Jeff?
Ugh. I am not rubbing your feet , he responded disdainfully.
Why not, I whined? You think my feet are cute. And they really hurt. Pretty please?
Your feet used to be cute, he answered. They used to be, um…uh…painted.
Well, he continued, they used to be cuter. Just, um… different… uh, just…
What? He defensively asked, after I shot him a look cluing him in that he’d said something really, really wrong. You’re, like, thirteen years older than when we met, he continued. Of course your feet look older. Do you think your mother’s feet are “cute?” As you get older your feet become less cute. That’s life. You know?
He could have said anything: Your feet are dry, Jill. They’re veiny. They’re rough. They’re scaley. Fat, even. But old? OLD??? They are none of those things, for the record. They could certainly benefit from a good foot rub with some moisturizing lotion, but are fine, and a mere thirty one years young.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Students and parents are in shock after a group of teenagers had sex in a high school bathroom in Fort Myers, Florida, and then posted a video of the act on social media .
A teenage girl had sex with as many as two dozen boys after school Tuesday afternoon at South Fort Myers High School, according to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
Deputies said 25 males were spotted via a hallway camera entering the restroom while the female was inside, the News-Press reported .
“A bunch of football players went into a room with a girl and had sex with her, and a bunch of the football players were suspended,” student Alex Bailey told WBBH . “So we might not have a football team this year.”
“The fact that that could’ve happened is just crazy in my mind,” another student said.
Parent Megan Roldan said the incident proves some parents need to be more aware of what their children are getting up to when school ends.
“And apparently, obviously the parents need to be talking to their kids more,” Roldan told WINK . “And being aware of what their children are doing after school.”
Even though the incident happened after hours, some students are wondering where the administration was when all of this was going on.
“I just don’t see how that could’ve happened because there is so much security in there,” student Erin Bollinger said. “Like the teachers are really on top of all of that.”
Students said the entire thing was filmed and then posted on social media.
“There’s girls that saw the video once and it hurt, it is just so disturbing to them,” student Casey Winn said.
Some parents question how this could have happened at the school.
“Well, they should be walking around the halls and things like that and know where the kids are,” Roldan said.
But others said they trust the school district to handle the situation
“I trust them to take care of it,” one woman said. “I really do think that that is their job and they will take care of it.”
The sheriff’s office said the girl’s mother is not planning to press charges.
A school district official said the students involved have been disciplined.

The woman was caught on camera screaming for help as other dancers seemed to ignore her cries
A WOMAN live-streamed herself crying and screaming for help as she was 'raped' in the middle of a packed dance floor.
The alleged victim was heard repeatedly shouting "no" and "someone please help me", but no one intervened.
The woman, who can not be named, had uploaded several live videos to her Facebook on Saturday night as she partied at Opera, a nightclub in Atlanta, US.
She posted five videos to the site the fifth showed the moment she was allegedly raped by a man she had been dancing with all evening.
In the shocking 12 minute video which has since been removed, showed the woman saying: "help me" repeatedly.
She then started to get louder, shouting "help me, help me, help me, oh god help me".
Terrified, she continues to yell "no".
In the footage there is a man seen with his phone, seemingly filming the horrific incident.
She screams and "please stop, oh god please."
At one point it's alleged that the man was heard saying "shh" and "baby" as she continued to cry and shout for him to stop.
In all the other videos, that still remain on her Facebook wall, feature the man in question.
Before the supposed attack, they were filmed dancing and laughing together.
The woman told him that she was celebrating her birthday and that she was by herself.
He asks her if she wants a drink, to which she explained she never drinks but she has had one for her birthday.
He is heard saying: "Have another for your birthday."
To which she requests something "sweet and with vodka".
Throughout the videos the pair dance, but she seems to get more intoxicated.
He calls her his "new best friend" and kisses her on the cheek.
But suddenly, the night takes a horrendous turn - leaving the club goer screaming in distress.
She released another video the following day on her Facebook page, thanking her friends and family for their support.
She said: "I don't even want to address the situation. I don't want to talk about it, but I'm going to be alright, I'm going to be ok.
She added: "All I want is justice, that's it. That's the game y'all"
The video was viewed by 957,000 times and became inundated with messages of support.
Eagle-eyed viewers claimed to have seen the man spiking her drink with a pill.
Police are investigating the alleged attack.
