Nude in the Pool (1964) ** (out of 4) This Barry Mahon short is pretty much what you'd expect from him. Three girlfriends wake up and decide that they should spend the day at the pool. When you watch these Mahon shorts it's best not to expect any sort of plot because they are all very simple and are just used to set up the nudity. This film here isn't awful and it's certainly not great so it's basically just going to appeal to fans of this type of short. The film was shot in color, which I'm sure was a very big plus for fans in 1964 and you've got pretty much wall-to-wall nudity. There's nothing ground-breaking here but it's mildly entertaining.

A student at the University of Iceland was told to leave the pool in the small town of Akranes on Saturday for swimming without a bikini top. Apparently the town of Akranes isn't quite with it on the Free the Nipple revolution that took place in Iceland two years ago.
"I don't go swimming that often but when I do it's always topless and I always get a positive response," explains student Diljá Sigurðardóttir.
A female pool warden came up to Sigurðardóttir and her friends sayng there had been complaints. "I said, what do you mean, I'm wearing a bathing suit but she said I wasn't wearing a top. And that this swimming pool required a top."
Sigurðardóttir is not happy about the ideologies that are upheld at the Akranes pool. "Human rights obviously don't apply there." She and her friends told the pool warden that it was illegal to differentiate between men and women in this manner.
Sociology student Diljá Sigurðardóttir only goes swimming without a top on and until now the reaction has been a positive one.

The pool warden replied that it wasn't "Free the nipple day today."
"I suppose that this means that we have to keep pushing new norms into the heads of people. The fight is still gong on and I think it's important. It's important to human rights. "

Hilmar Gunnarsson is going to run 10 kilometers for his son Kristófer and all the kids in the SLF's Rehabilitation Center in Reykjadalur tomorrow in the Reykjavík Marathon sponsored by Íslandsbanki. He has already accumulated almost 1,5 million ISK in pledges, but all the money will go to Reykjadalur, a summer camp for disabled children and teenagers.
The geophysicist Páll Einarsson says that the volcanic eruption in Meradalir has been slowing down considerably in the last ten days. He says it is difficult to know whether this is a slowing phase and the eruption will gain more power soon or if the eruption is permanently losing momentum.
