Titans star Ryan Potter, who plays Beast Boy, told CBR about what it was like to film his part in the dead of winter.
Titans star Ryan Potter was so dedicated to his role that he even stripped down in the snow. At New York Comic Con, the Beast Boy actor told CBR about what it was like to film his role in the dead of winter.
Asked to explain his part in realizing Beast Boy's superpowers, Potter turned to his co-star Alan Ritchson for help. "Can you tell the audience about Beast Boy? I want to hear Hawk's interpretation of Beast Boy, because we haven't actually had any on-screen time really," he said.
Ritchson obliged. "So from what I know, a tiger comes in to steal some video games and forgot to put on his panties, because when he changes back, homeboy's got nothing on and it looked cold where they were shooting," he shared. "That's all I can say."
"We filmed in the middle of winter!" Teagan Croft, who plays Raven, pitched in. "He was naked in the snow multiple times."
"Yeah, that's true. That happened," Starfire actor Anna Diop confirmed.
"It was actually cold. It was -20," Potter recalled.
On Titans , Beast Boy made his debut during a stinger scene at the end of episode one. In that, he transformed into a tiger to ransack a video game store, before shifting back and running off into the woods naked. He reappeared in "Origins," Season 1's third episode, and flirted with Raven at a roller skating rink. The trailer for next week's episode teases his growing involvement with the team.
Now streaming on DC Universe, Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Robin, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach. A new episode debuts each Friday.
Meagan Damore got her start at CBR as a Comic Reviewer in 2013, then served as a CBR Editor from January 2015 to February 2022. She discovered comics thanks to the plethora of movies and television she grew up with, like Batman: The Animated Series, Spider-Man, the original X-Men film trilogy, X-Men: Evolution and Justice League Unlimited. She picked up her first comic in high school and fell instantly in love with the medium. Later, she took her love for pop culture with her to college, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts from Suffolk University and a Masters Degree in Literature from University of Massachusetts Boston. The opening credits of the show featured two versions of the theme song: one in English and the other in Japanese. The Japanese version is not a direct translation of the English lyrics. Beast Boy sings a translation of the Japanese Lyrics in Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo (2006) .
The title credits are sung bi-lingualy, some episodes being in Puffy's
native Japanese, others being in English.
Man, the first time I saw the promos for this, I thought this was gonna suck... good thing I checked it out anyway and found out that it was very well done. By the way, I'm a supporter of the Robin/Starfire relationship tie-in... as I'm sure everyone's aware of all the different titan relationship tie-ins. The characters are voiced very well, and the American/Japanese animation blend does wonders for this show. If it's good enough to last a few more seasons, I'm gonna check that out. This series is a 10 as far as I go.
