A Kentucky high school principal forced a teen girl to get on her knees so he could measure her dress length — to enforce a strict dress code.
Amanda Durbin, 17, wore a dress her mother argued was fine enough to wear to church, but someone at Edmonson County High School didn't think was appropriate for the classroom, WBKO reported.
Durbin paired a mid-length red and black dress on top of dark leggings, which someone at the school thought was too revealing. So the student was pulled into the principal's office and asked to get on her knees, so they could measure how far the floor was from the end of her dress.

Durbin said she was uncomfortable kneeling in front of Principal Tommy Hodges, so she asked for her parents, the high school senior told Buzzfeed.
Instead of resuming her school day and going to classes, school administration decided to waste the day and wait two hours for her parents to arrive before they continued acting as fashion police.
"I didn't really appreciate having to get down on my knees, especially while I was in a dress," she said.
She said the principal made her get on her knees in front of her parents so they could take measurements. (WBKO)
Durbin said she was humiliated by the incident, with her parents watching her kneel in the principal's office.
She originally passed the dress code, which required a maximum of 6 inches' space — but when the principal made her raise her arms to see if the dress would ride up, it was measured at 8 inches above the knee.
The principal ended up sending her home for breaking the dress code, even though the school day was pretty much over by then.
The high school kept her in the office for hours while trying to enforce the dress code. (WBKO)
Her mother, Alexandria, protested and argued the dress was fine to wear to church, and couldn't see why the school would enforce against it.
"We're not a church, we're not a business, we're a school. It's where kids are learning and we're trying to educate them every day," Hodges said.
Durbin wasn't the only student that the school cracked down on, she said.

"There were at least 30 to 40 or more girls that were either sent home or told they needed to change because they were out of dress code. Some of them were wearing the same thing I was wearing," she told a local station.
The school has also sent home boys for wearing ripped jeans that show skin. Principal Hodges said the dress code is open for discussion on changes the community feels are needed.
