There's more to Brad's big reveal than you realise.
Sex/Life episode 3 spoilers follow, and they're huge!
With a title like Sex/Life , Netflix's latest show was always going to get people talking. But honestly, no one could have predicted quite how gagged we would all be by one scene in particular. If you've watched up to episode three, you know the one, and even if you haven't, you probably still know the one.
Approximately 19 minutes and 50 seconds into the third episode – but who's counting? – there's a scene where Brad, Billie's former lover, takes a shower at the gym. Good for him, you're probably thinking. Hygiene is everything after a good workout. But what we didn't expect was that our eyes would get a good workout too because all of a sudden, Brad turns around with his penis on full display.
The camera lingers in ways that would make even Euphoria blush . It's a lot, and we mean that in every sense of the word. Is this real or is it actually an outtake from The Boys ' Love Sausage episode ? Either way, it's no wonder that Billie can't stop thinking about Brad. And Netflix even got in on the action too.

A recent episode of Celebrity Gogglebox echoed our reactions at home with plenty of quotable lines from the likes of Martin Kemp, Martine McCutcheon , Denise Van Outen , Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher.
Kemp questioned, "Is that real?!" And Nick Grimshaw said, "Jesus Christ! It’s like a salami."
Taking things a tad more seriously, Jonathan Ross said, "[Cooper] needs to accept the fact he can't compete with Brad. You can't compete with that. Go home, pack your shirts, f**k off... Look, it's got its own postcode!"
Who knew celebrities think like us?
When asked about this scene, showrunner Stacy Rukeyser told Collider that it wasn't just included "for titillation's sake". The idea was to demonstrate just how "obsessed" Billie's husband Cooper has become with her past. But whether you think this particular shot of Adam Demos was necessary or not, it does serve one extremely important function: to distract viewers from a glaring continuity error.
In the next episode, Brad gets a tattoo of two small bees on the upper-right side of his crotch. Is he just a mega Bridgerton fan ? Perhaps, but the main reason is that these bees symbolise his relationship with Billie. So where did the bees buzz off to in this Emmy-worthy shower scene?
Although Brad got the tattoo during a flashback scene, we know he hasn't removed it since because he flashes it to Billie in a present-day chat online. In fact, Brad points out that the bees represent his undying love for Billie, so why are they not visible in the shower scene which just took place a few days before? It's not like the camera was shy or reserved at this point. We saw everything . Except the bees, that is.
The mystery of the missing tattoo has led some internet "sleuths" to question whether a body double or even a prosthetic was used. Without Jessica Fletcher on the case, Collider did its best to figure out the mystery for itself, but Rukeyser wasn't willing to spill the goods. Although Stacy did deny that a body double was used, the answer to this other prosthetic question is still dangling just out of reach.
"I can tell you what Adam Demos says about it which is, a gentleman never tells. So, we are leaving that up to the viewer's imagination."

Speaking to EW , Demos opened up a bit more about his initial thoughts on filming the one scene that everyone's talking about most:
"I was okay with [the nudity] because you read the script and know what you're getting yourself into from the start, so I don't think you would sign on to a show after reading the scripts and then say no last minute. That doesn't mean you can't have discussions about comfort level, which they allowed us to have – and with the intimacy coordinator, so it felt a lot safer."
Mike Vogel, who plays Cooper, recently shared his own thoughts on the shower scene too with E! News :
"I think you read it and you film it and you have a laugh about it. And you don't realise the life of its own that it's going to take on. So, yeah, we've had a lot of fun with it, and others are as well. So, there you go... I think in the best way possible, the way that these sort of things are set up nowadays, especially with an intimacy coordinator, everything has to be planned out, rehearsed, so there's not a hand out of place... You don't see everything happening on the other side of the camera, and that it's set up to literally be the least turn on that it possibly could be."
Given how much interest there's already been in this show, we're sure that Sex/Life will stay in people's imagination – and Netflix's top ten – for quite some time to come . And hopefully, this rather candid approach to male nudity will stay in people's minds for a different reason too.
So much of what we see on screen is dictated by the (straight) male gaze, and that's particularly true when it comes to sex. As Rukeyser points out in her aforementioned interview, "Often in films or TV shows that are even allegedly about desire, sexuality, it's still so much from the male point of view."
But this isn't a man's story. This is Billie's story. And that's why scenes like this are so important, says Rukeyser. "The camera hangs on the male bodies a little bit more than on her body because that's her gaze, that's her experience of it." If Brad's equipment distracts viewers from a massive continuity error, then that's just a bonus.
Now pour one out for all the picture editors who put in double shifts to blur out Adam's penis from the images we use in articles like this.
