Wonder why city subways and streets remain dangerous? Look no further than at the 16-year-old who punched and choked a cop yet was freed just hours after his arrest Saturday.
Two officers stopped the teen after he allegedly jumped a turnstile, prompting him to become “verbally aggressive,” officials say. When the officers went to arrest him, he started punching and choking an officer, igniting a brawl caught on video . Cops eventually hauled him in, but by Sunday he was back on the streets.
Read that closely: The video clearly shows the kid aggressively attacking a police officer .
And this wasn’t even his first brush with the law: The youngster was nabbed in April for carrying a loaded gun, and only days ago for violent felony robbery — yet released both times.
In case he hadn’t got the message that his actions carry no consequences, he was set free once again. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office said the case was sent to Family Court because of his age; there, of course, budding young criminals are routinely “punished” with juice and cookies and sent on their way. It’s pure insanity.
“Catch, release, repeat,” railed Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday. And “we’re not talking about someone [who] steals an apple” but who “repeatedly” uses violence.
Police-union boss Pat Lynch fumed that criminals know they can “choke a cop and be back out in hours.” Officers put their lives on the line but are “abandoned by a justice system that won’t back us up.”
Lynch is referring to “reforms” like the no-bail law and Raise the Age, the latter of which makes it impossible to try perps under 18 in Criminal Court for most crimes, among other problems.
Progressives think these laws give kids a second chance; in fact, they give out endless chances — give up on any hope of getting young offenders onto the right track.
Crime in New York now carries no real consequences, even if you’re caught — at least, not before someone ends up dead. Which is why homicides, shootings and all other major crime have soared.
Adams is now demanding lawmakers return to Albany for a special legislative session to fix the disastrous criminal-justice laws, just as they did “with the [recent Supreme Court] ruling on right to carry.” Yet Gov. Kathy Hochul and legislative leaders dismiss that out of hand.
By contrast, Rep. Lee Zeldin promises he’ll push Albany to fix the laws on Day 1 if he’s elected governor. That may well be the only way Adams — and New York — will make any headway on crime.

Hand Orientation: Left Verified Purchase

These clubs were a pretty good fit for my 5 ft tall 13 year old. I think the driver was a little long for a guy his height, but he can still swing it well enough to get the ball off the tee. The clubs have a substantial and quality feel about them. The shafts of the drivers are nice and stiff, even though they are carbon fiber. The irons are good and weighty, but not so heavy that a kid of average strength and ability couldn't use them. The set has a nice modern putter with basic markings and guides. The bag material is a bit on the light-weight side, but should hold up well enough if my son isn't too rough with it. The biggest confirmation that these were a good purchase came when my son and I went out and played a round on the course. He was immediately able to get a feel for these clubs and was able to play well with them. He mainly used the 3 and the hybrid clubs off the tee and had no problem with any of the irons. He says that he really likes them and they feel good to play with. Like I said, he's only used them for one round, so I don't know how they will hold up long-term. I did buy the extended warranty offered by Amazon at the time of purchase, but these clubs feel like they are made well enough to get him through his teen years and through him getting taller (maybe up to someone 5'8"). Fast shipping and box was in good shape when we got it delivered. Overall good experience so far.

We purchased this set for our high school grandson. It is a perfect set and is for kids 5 ft or taller. We are avid golfers and it is and incredible set for the money. We would purchase again. High quality clubs and bag. He loved them the first time he hit balls and was consistently hitting the ball longer and with better control.

I have a 13 year-old beginning to play golf. This golf set and bag is great for him and it looks like we'll be able to use it for a couple of years until we need to upgrade.

Update: My son still loves these clubs. He used them while in Florida on Spring Break (03/2021). There was an issue with the 7 iron. It was way too late to return but decided to contact the seller anyway. They responded very quickly and are sending out a replacement for the 7 iron!!! Very good customer service. Thank you! I bought these for my 12 year old son since he's outgrown his other set. My husband unpacked the clubs and was really impressed with them. He can't wait to take my son out to play a round.

Hand Orientation: Left Verified Purchase

Great deal but disappointed that the strap on the bag broke after having 4 months.

Great set for a beginner. My son is 12 and is around 5’2” and growing this works perfectly.

Look, these aren’t Cleveland’s or TaylorMade clubs. But you’re not paying $600-$1000 for a junior set like those makers. This is really a nice little set that’s more than good enough for a growing (12 year old) golfer. He’s starting his 4th season with First Tee, and absolutely loves these clubs.
