Hiring a prostitute in El Alto, Bolivia's second city, is a simple, hassle-free affair in which anything goes.
In a a visit organized by the Munasim Kullakita Foundation, which is dedicated to the protection of minors, EFE got a close-up look at the sordid underworld of prostitution in the 12 de Octubre neighborhood.
"La 12" (The Twelfth) is a few streets away from the highway linking this gritty industrial city to neighboring La Paz.
As night falls over the Altiplano highlands, as many as 19 brothels identified by Munasim Kullakita start coming alive.
Every night, La Casa Verde (The Green House) - one of the area's busiest brothels - welcomes a wide variety of males, from high school boys to old men looking for a quick and cheap hookup.
"It's sex on the spot; you go in and it's like it never happened," our guide said, reflecting the spirit of the place.
Inside the buzzing two-story establishment, loud music resounds as clients parade around, haggling over the price of sex before entering any one of the small doors surrounding the central dance floor.
Behind each door is a tiny space furnished only with a bed and a small table, outside of which countless men await to have sex with a prostitute.
Most women wait by the doorway wearing lingerie - or nothing at all - and while most of them appear to be in their 20s, our guide claims that "there is always a minor" of 17 or even 15.
The going price of a 20-minute session with a prostitute is between $6 and $8, which takes about the same time as a quick detour on the way back home from work would.
After Casa Verde, we made our way to a place that advertises that it has both Bolivian and foreign women, which has two dance floors, each one of which is surrounded by dozens of small rooms.
Off to a side, a group of men waiting in line outside one of the small doors stood out, and a waiter explained that it was because a "small, skinny and fine girl" had arrived.
Despite the fact that the place also has foreign women, men wait patiently for their turn with the youngest girls, as minors are thought to provide better sexual satisfaction and clients believe them to be disease-free, our chaperone said.
Demand for minors is such that they often lack the time to rest or wash up between clients, as they can receive as many as 20 clients a night.

In the 1970s, pimps and prostitutes haunted Times Square and drug dealers worked openly.

And the majority of male juvenile prostitutes were runaways or children who were thrown out of their homes.
Around the same time, more than 820,00 people fled the crime and an unreliable transit system over the course of the decade, moving from the city to the suburbs.
New York City went nearly bankrupt as Wall Street sputtered under the economic stagnation of the era.
Buildings went vacant and became home to squatters as they fell into disrepair.
The subway became unreliable and dangerous. Muggings and rapes were reported on trains and in the dark tunnels underground.
But in the 90s major companies such as Disney and Starbucks among others began to arrive. These companies built office towers or opened mega stores turning Times Square into a major commercial intersection.

Residents in Hull are alarmed at the rocketing levels of prostitution on the notorious Hessle Road
THE grim reality of life on Britain's seediest street is today revealed as prostitutes admit begging school run dads for £30 romps in alleyways.
Young women - wearing mini dresses and stilettos - openly tout for business in front of primary schoolkids as dawn breaks over Hessle Road in Hull, East Yorkshire.
Loitering near bus stops and outside shops, they offer passers-by cheaper rates for "sex outdoors".
One told The Sun Online 7am is the "peak" time because: “It's rush hour, babe.”
Locals warn the grim situation is now intolerable, with the number of women patrolling the street rocketing.
On Friday morning, one sex worker approached our reporter as kids walked to one of the seven nearby primary schools today.
Dressed in tight jeans and a black leather jacket, the dark haired girl in her late 20s, begged: "Do you want business?”
Asked why she was out in broad daylight, she replied: “It’s rush hour babe. It’s the best time.
"When everyone is going to work. Have you got a car? It’s £40 for sex or £30 for a [sex act]."
Another sex worker, aged around 30, offered our reporter full "outdoor" sex for £30.
She said: “Do you want business? Do you want it indoors or outdoors? It’s £40 for sex if you want to go back to my flat.
“If you want it outdoors it’s £20 for oral sex or £30 for sex. There's an alley just around the corner.
"I will be here for a bit babe - but if I get another job I will be gone.
“There’s a cash point just across the road or at the garage. Where are you parked? It’s best in a car."
She then whispered that she offered punters the chance to "touch her all over for twenty quid".
One mum shook her head in despair as she walked her little boy to school.
She said: “I work in one of the shops and they are often there when I go to work at eight in the morning after I take my boy to school. It’s terrible.”
Meanwhile, other horrified locals said they are regularly approached as early as 5am as they make their way to work.
Funeral director Steve Smith, 30, claims he was solicited while standing at a cash machine before starting work.
He told The Sun Online: “I was stood outside the bank and she said: ‘Are you looking for business?'
“I thought that was funny since I am in the funeral business. She was a bit young to end up in a box.
“I was wearing my suit and funeral gear and she was dressed in a pair of shorts and a crop top so it was a really bizarre thing to happen at 9am."
Just four years ago, Hull became the first UK city to create a "prostitute-free zone", meaning people caught loitering, soliciting or having sex in the area could be arrested and charged.
However, the ban has done little to deter the problem, and residents now claim as many as 15 to 20 prostitutes tout the streets every day.
Newsagent Jo Thirkettle, 53, said: “They wear skirts like belts, hot pants and other revealing stuff.
“They come into the shop asking the customers ‘Do you want business?’ When I tell them to go outside they go after blokes using the cash machine.
“They don’t charge very much because people around here can’t afford much anyway."
Many of the girls take their customers to an open car park behind the shops which is littered with condoms, cigarette butts, empty beer cans and smashed spirits bottles.
Some are even said to be using a disused phone box for sex, often leaving their business cards behind along with condoms, syringes and other drugs paraphernalia.
There are seven primary schools within a mile radius of the road - Adelaide, Newington Academy, Hessle Penhurst, Francis Askew, Wheeler, Chiltern and St George's Primary - as well as two nurseries.
A local shop owner, who did not wish to be named, said: "There have been prostitutes down here for decades.
“They seem to come go – sometimes they are at one end of the street and sometimes at the other.
"Then they will disappear altogether for a few weeks trying a different area. But they always come back.
“You’ll see them arguing among themselves about pitches and where they should stand.
“I’ve seen them here when I start opening up at 5am.”
Last year, the police launched a clampdown on the notorious spot.
Coppers caught 26 kerb crawlers approaching prostitutes over a three-month period, 16 of them were then slapped with section 222 orders, banning them from the area.
Councillor Daren Hale insists everything is being done to clampdown on the number of sex workers which “causes misery for residents.”
Inspector Kirsty Tock, of the Hull central community policing team, said: “Hessle Road remains our main focus and, at the moment, we are tackling those seeking out sex workers.
“We are continuing to carry out patrols and using the injunctions to prevent prostitution on Hull’s streets.
“We have changed our approach recently and are using plain-clothes officers and now punters are feeling the full force of these section 222 orders.
"We are also using CCTV to collect further evidence."
