Kendall Jenner Poses Nude and Addresses Modeling Critics in Harper's Bazaar

"[I] don’t work any less hard than the ’90s models did when they were young."
Kendall Jenner appears on the cover and inside spread of this month’s Harper’s Bazaar magazine, modeling a series of waterproof looks, hit with waterfalls from all angles. In one image, the 22-year-old model shows off a Chanel look that is made totally of clear plastic—with nothing underneath. She lounges on a hot pink Lucite chair, not unlike Jennifer Beals in Flashdance.
A huge trend for the spring season is PVC and other clear plastic materials. They were fashioned into everything from jackets to dresses, boots and handbags alike on the runways of this past Fashion Week. Chanel was one of the frontrunners when it came to the daring trend, so it’s only appropriate that if there were one look Kendall showed off all on its own, it would be one of Karl Lagerfeld’s.
In one of the cover images, Kendall wears a decidedly more conservative—though still playful—red PVC sleeveless dress from Calvin Klein 205W39NYC. In another, she wears a polka-dot Prada raincoat.
The interview was done by Cara Delevingne, as the magazine takes on a style similar to that of Interview magazine. In the candid conversation between best friends, Kendall speaks out in defense of the new wave of supers dubbed 'social media models.' When asked what the difference is between supermodels today vs. supermodels 20 years ago, Kendall said: "I’ve actually talked about it with a couple of women, like Cindy Crawford, who have been doing this for a long time. I feel like social media obviously has a lot to do with how it’s different. A lot of people are like, “Oh, it’s so much easier now because you have Instagram. You don’t even need an agency anymore.” But that’s just not true. I still had to go to all the castings, I still had to go meet all the photographers, I still had to do all of that to get to where I am now. There wasn’t a step taken out just because I had social media. I still have 12-hour days, I still have even 24-hour days sometimes; I still have to do all those things. We don’t work any less hard than the ’90s models did when they were young."
She also reveals what she feels she might have missed out on due to her young fame (college) and how she “[doesn’t] ever know if [she] regrets that.” She does, add, though, “I would like to go to Disneyland or a public beach. To go to a beach in peace would be lovely.
