An 11-year-old schoolgirl was forced to wet herself in class after losing the pass that allows her go to the toilet.
Gemma Buckingham, 31, asked her young daughter why her underwear was soiled after a day at Djanogly City Academy in Nottingham last week.
But instead of answering, all the youngster could do was 'cry her eyes out' as she struggled with the fact she had wet herself in front of her friends.
The Year 7 pupil said she was 'too scared' to ask to go after her teacher allegedly told the secondary pupils that no-one was allowed to leave during lessons.

School policy dictates that the children's toilets are locked while they are in class.
The only way they can go is by presenting a 'pass' which allows them a break to relieve themselves.
However, Mrs Buckingham's daughter had lost the one allocated to her - and so believed it was impossible for her to leave.
Desperately uncomfortable, the schoolgirl then soiled herself.
Mrs Buckingham, from Aspley, Nottingham, said: 'The situation has really bothered me and the toilet rules are just wrong. I won't be sending my kids back until something changes.
'The teacher said no-one should even bother asking to go to the toilet because they can't go.
'No-one should hold their bladder because if you don't go to the toilet it can cause problems.
'My daughter is really embarrassed by it all and was absolutely sobbing at the time.
'I am making a case for every student, not just my child.'
The 720-pupil school, that caters for children aged 11-18, said the girl had not told the teacher she needed to leave class.
But the academy, which Ofsted inspectors said 'required improvement', did not deny that the teacher had said 'not to bother' asking to go to the toilet.

Principal Dave Hooker said: 'We are a caring school and toilet access during lessons is always available for those students with a genuine need.
'During breaks and lunchtime toilets are open and accessible to all students. During lessons students can access the toilets by using a pass.
'This policy has been established for some time and follows procedures used by many schools and academies across the country.
'In this particular instance the student had been issued with a toilet pass but on the day in question had unfortunately lost it and not asked for a replacement.
'During the lesson, the student did not notify the member of staff that she needed to use the toilet and therefore our colleague was unaware of her requirements.
'Since the incident, senior pastoral staff at the academy have met with the family to discuss the matter further ant offer support.'
A spokesman for Nottingham City Council said: 'We would need to discuss this case further with the school before any action was taken.'

Hi everyone, my 16 year old daughter began wetting the bed almost two months ago. When it first happened I thought it was a one off, but she wet the bed again a couple of days later. In the second week she wet the bed 4 times so I made a GP appointment. They said nothing was obviously wrong after doing a lot of tests and that she was probably just sleeping deeply and her bladder just wasn't catching up with her growth. I bought a mattress protector because I didn't want her mattress to be ruined. Even when we restrict fluids she wakes up in a soaked bed. She hasn't had a dry night for three weeks and is upset. She hates waking up in a wet bed so we tried drynites, but they leak, so we've had to get something a lot bulkier. She doesn't like it, but she hates waking up in a wet bed even more. Earlier this week we were visiting her older sister up in Bath. We'd been in the car an hour when she said she needed the toilet. The traffic was pretty bad so we weren't moving quickly. 10 minutes after she told me she said she really needed the toilet. A couple of minutes later, just as we were nearing a petrol station, I looked behind to tell her she just needed to hold on a little longer, but it was too late. She was absolutely soaked. We went into the toilet and I did my best to dry her skirt on the hand dryer and she had to spend the rest of the journey pantless because there was no way they were going to dry. I'm worried she'll have another daytime accident. If it happened at school she'd be mortified. Should I get some tena slips or something just incase?

It could be possible, mental illness runs in my family. I used to suffer from anxiety and depression. She's just done all of her GCSEs, so that could have been a trigger.
Poor girl, how absolutely horrible! My brother wet the bed until he was about 7, when my parents got this bed alarm thing. Somehow it senses when you need to go and sets off a beeper so you wake up and hopefully get to the bathroom on time. I don't know if that would help. You must be very concerned. To be honest I'd want to go back to the doctor. She shouldn't have to be coping with this.

I'm going to push for answers and might try the bedwetting alarm. I'll talk to her about it.
Update: Just ordered a Bedwetting alarm. She's going to the GP tomorrow, hopefully we'll get more answers.

Hi Phoebe Does your daughter have any other symptoms eg tiredness, thirst or weight loss. Bed wetting is a classic symptom of type 1 diabetes and it is often diagnosed in teenagers . GPs often miss this. If they haven't checked her blood sugar levels ask them too. Or get some glucose testing strips from the chemist and test her urine. Hope you get it resolved whatever the underlying reason. Best wishes Angela
Her blood sugar levels were completely normal and her weight has been about the same for a year (give or take a lb here and there). From scans the Dr did last time, she says her bladder is about 1/3 smaller than it should be at her size. She's always been a deep sleeper. Even when I had her younger brother three years ago, she slept through the night feeds. The whole house woke up apart from her. My three year old hasn't wet the bed in two months, so I'm worried she's going to be upset her brother is dry and she isn't. The sleep alarm arrives tomorrow and fingers crossed that will help.
At the appointment, the Dr asked me to leave the room whilst she talked to my daughter...she seemed a little shaken when she came out of the room and said that she wanted to go home. She practically dragged me out of the door...I wonder why?
I'm kind of freaking out a little bit. The only time I ever wet the bed past toddlerdom was when I was pregnant with her, though it wasn't a problem with her younger brother. She couldn't be pregnant, could she? I mean, she wouldn't get herself pregnant. She's a smart girl. Should I talk to her about it or leave it?
My brother had a problem with pooing his pants and only just stopped s month before he started going to senior school. It was awful for us all, and very tiring. He had no control and wouldn't even tell us he'd pooed himself... You'd smell it and want to tell him off but it didn't get us anywhere. You've just gotta be patient and remind her to go to the toilet more often.

If the bed wetting alarm doesn't work, I shall. What if it's because she's pregnant though? I wet the bed when I was pregnant with her. Should I ask her?
Yes you should ask her, but not challenge her just ask., when you first posted I thought it was unlikely that she was pregnant but its reminded me what I was like when I was pregnant.
If she is, I'll be a little angry, but I'll support her in whatever decision she makes. I had her at 17 after all.
