Cops say the teen was repeatedly attacked over the course of an hour after she became separated from her friends following a visit to a club in Tower Hamlets, East London
POLICE have launched a major manhunt after a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on THREE separate occasions as she walked home from a night out.
The teenager was attacked repeatedly over the course of an hour after she became separated from her friends following a visit to a club in Tower Hamlets, East London.
Cops were alerted when the distressed victim was found lying half-naked on the ground by a passer-by.
Police, who have released CCTV footage of two of the men suspected of being involved, said her ordeal started shortly before midnight on Friday September 29 when she was picked up on camera being carried by a man in Cambridge Heath Road.
The pair are then seen appearing to go into a doorway in the same road, after which the man, who was wearing dark clothing, is not seen again on camera.
Items of the top half of the girl's clothing were subsequently found nearby.
Shortly after midnight, another CCTV camera picks up the girl stumbling half-naked down Mint Street, being followed by a different, bearded male, on a racing bicycle.
Officers said the man followed the teenager along Mint Street, into Three Colts Lane, and then as she heads in the direction of Bethnal Green Overground station.
When the next camera picks her up, the man has approached her and they have reached Corfield Street.
Some time later, the camera picks up the man leaving the area and walking away.
The girl, whose clothing appears dishevelled, emerges shortly afterwards and goes further down Corfield Street.
Just minutes later, at 12.45am, as she walked along the street, she was raped under trees by a group of up to three men.
The gang, believed to be drug addicts, included a bow-legged man with a distinctive gait.
A short time later, a member of the public spotted the teenager lying on the ground in Corfield Street in a state of distress and called 999.
Yesterday a local said: “It was very, very scary. She must have been terrified.”
Barber Jamel Gouader, who works in nearby Three Colts Lane: said: “I can’t believe no one came to help her.”
Detectives believe it is possible that she was drugged and are in the process of carrying out toxicology tests. They have pieced together CCTV and DNA evidence which suggests she was raped by two men.
Detective Inspector Suzanne Jordan, from the Metropolitan Police's child abuse and sexual offences command, said: "This is a horrific multiple sexual assault on an young female who was simply making her way home after a night out.
"We would like to thank the members of the public who intervened to help her and possibly prevented her ordeal from continuing even further.
"We believe two of the three were very serious sexual assaults indeed, and are determined to catch the persons responsible for these hideous crimes."
Police have released images of two men wanted in connection with the assaults.

A TEENAGE girl was allegedly drugged and raped by at least 20 different people during an eight day ordeal after kidnappers reportedly lured her with the promise of a new schoolbag.
Some 18 arrests have been made - including four minors - while two cops have been suspended for "negligence of duty" after failing to act within ten days of the report being made in India.
The 15-year-old girl was allegedly taken by a friend and another youngster into the city of Jhalawar with the prospect of buying a new school bag, reports the Times of India.
The teen claims they went to a park, where she was drugged and raped by two or three men.
She told police she was then raped by a series of men, as well as four minors, at different places around the city over a period of eight days in late February.
Now, at least 18 people have been arrested in connection with the report.
Officials have confirmed two senior cops have been suspended.
Local police Superintendent Sharad Choudhary said: "These police officials failed to act even after 10 days of the crime and protect the minor girl."
Members of the Child Welfare Committee have since visited the victim's house to record statements from her and her mother.
It comes after a 13-year-old girl was gang raped for eight days after she was kidnapped by three men who dragged her into a car in broad daylight.
The girl was snatched on January 15 from Delhi and was held for more than a week before being rescued by her family.
India's rape crisis saw one woman being sexually attacked every 15 minutes on average in 2018, government data shows.
In 2019, a woman, 23, was set on fire by a gang of men in Uttar Pradesh as she travelled to court to press rape charges.
The National Family Health Survey, conducted in 2015-16, revealed that 33 per cent of married women aged from 15-49 age experienced physical, sexual, or emotional spousal violence.
But, of these victims, only 14 per cent sought help and 77 per cent never spoke about it.
Nearly 34,000 rapes are reported in the country annually despite tough laws introduced in recent years.
Rape and sexual violence has been under the spotlight in India since the 2012 gang rape and murder of a young woman in Delhi, which prompted thousands demanding stricter laws.
Outrage over her death led to legislators passing tough new laws against sexual violence, including the death penalty for rape in some cases.
Prison sentences for rapists were doubled to 20 years as well as criminalising voyeurism, stalking and trafficking of women.
Indian MPs also voted to lower the age at which a person can be tried as an adult for heinous crimes to 16 from 18.

In a tragic case, a 16-year-old girl was drugged and sexually assaulted in the northeastern Bangledesh city of Sylhet. The girl was allegedly “lured into believing she would shoot TikTok and Likee videos,” per Dhaka Tribune .
The assault adds yet another tragic case in Bangladesh, where sexual violence against women has become an epidemic of massive proportions.
The survivor’s father filed a complaint against TikTok and Likee content creators Juber Ahmed Fanny and a woman named only as “Liza,” with Shahporan police in Sylhet.
According to Tribune ‘s review of the complaint, the teenager was connected to a video-sharing community feature on TikTok and Likee, a Singapore-based app. Allegedly, “Liza” offered to take the victim to a shoot in the scenic Jaflong area with Fanny on May 19. The two coerced the victim to another house where the 16-year-old was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted.
The luring of young girls via social media into human trafficking and sexual assault has plagued Bangladeshi culture. According to the Daily Star , “a transnational gang involving some Bangladeshis is behind trafficking young girls using Tiktok and forcing them into prostitution in India.” The gang appears to target vulnerable members of specific social media groups and traffick them into India with the false prospects of well-paying jobs.
“School, college students, and sometimes young housewives are their targets,” Md Shahidullah, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Tejgaon Division), told the Star .
He also says the women are sexually assaulted and then recorded or photographed for extortion purposes.

A CBS News story from October 2020 reported that Bangladesh would certify approval for the death penalty in cases of rape. However, many detractors “don’t consider it a real solution to country’s sexual violence problem,” per the report.
Bangladesh govt will impose death penalty for rape. Very easy solution! You won't educate people that women r not objects of rape, that women r not inferior beings or slaves & men r not masters. You'll keep patriarchal structure of male domination. Death penalty won't stop rape.
“The government strategically chose a road that would let them escape accountability,” Umama Zillur, a member of the Feminists Across Generations alliance, who has been battling gender-based violence in Bangladesh, told CBS News. “We will not accept this.”
