im traveling backwards into the beach house catalog until the raraties release on the day I am writing this. cant say that I regret it either. and trust me, ive never heard any of this. my frame of mind was skeptical when I began. but after hearing teen dream, they've bested themselves in reverse too. any fan of bloom would love this also. 2 or three pieces sound as if they belong on bloom, and I mean in every quality way. to me the opening number (zebra) is one of a sixties mindset. the second is where a sharp kinship with mazzy star appears. then onto a bloody valentine of a Norway. but my absolute favorites on here have to be the Christine mcvie-like 'lover of mine' and also 'take care' which presents itself whithout mutch to compare it to. if you are already into beach house music, but haven't heard this one, chances are you will love it as mutch or more than the others. I don't think theres any regret in my purchase of this. I will say that I need to spend a little more time with devotion and the first one. but this essay is no problem.

Teen Dream, at heart, insightfully explains itself. You've got the somnolent fade-in ("Zebra"), the distressed mid-dream drama ("Norway"), the period of regretful reminiscence ("Used to Be"), the youthful anthem ("10 Mile Stereo"), and then you've got the tearful finale ("Take Care"). But Beach House gives us something extraordinary. Victoria Legrand's sweltering, sonic prayers echo brightly through the halls of a converted cathedral, and swim carelessly in holy matrimony with Alex Scally's dreamy string decrees. Pulsating keyboard portions are escorted fondly by gleeful, synergetic tambour beats and tambourine feet. Unearthly bubbling babels evolve briskly into swellings of gritty guitar strokes and airy vocal proclamations. An enchanting world of familiar visions fuses fluidly with surreal scenes of extrasolar experiences. And amongst the collusion of far-off "Walk[s] in the Park" and illusions of "Better Times," there is an understated sentiment that is so grippingly human and so achingly intimate that when the record is over, the listener truly feels as if they have been awakened from an epic slumber. It's the yin and yang power that Beach House has previously indicated, but hasn't quite dominated until Teen Dream. And it makes for one heck of a ride. (One of the best of the year so far, hands down.)

I'd heard the name Beach House since their last album came out and always meant to pick something up from them. I read enough reviews in the press to know I'd like it. I rarely get something new unheard anymore, but this is why it's good to take a chance sometimes. Probably one of my favorite new bands of the past couple years (for me), along with Fleet Foxes and Black Mountain. To give them a genre label, I'd say dream-pop nails it. It's very lush and warm. Good for headphones or just staring out the window to. Her voice matches the mood of the music well. Great lyrics. The DVD is something to see once, twice at most. It's interesting, but nothing special. I'll end my review just as the album ends, by saying Take Care.

An excellent album and I like it better than Devotion. I didn't buy the CD until recently. I heard the samples when Teen Dream came out a year ago but it just didn't seem to match the beauty of Devotion. When Teen Dream was listed in several best of 2010 lists, I then thought to take the chance and would also get a free DVD with the CD. When the CD arrived and I listed to Zebra, Silver Soul and then Norway, I knew this was a winner. And it got even better. How about the beauty of Lover of Mine? And 10 Mile Stereo is awesome. Even the slower and soulful Real Love is powerful. I can't see how Beach House can top this record but I felt the same after Devotion and was very surprised. BTW, I wasn't that thrilled about the DVD but it's interesting and was free with the CD.

After purchasing BLOOM I needed another Beach House fix and TEEN DREAM does not disappoint. This CD has an almost Breakfast in America by Supertramp vibe. It is definitely a CD that must be listened to in its entirety to be fully appreciated. The music is layered and textural. The vocals are haunting and hypnotic. Beach House is a band in and of itself. Their sound is unique and addictive. I am so thrilled Amazon recommended them to me because I would never have found this band on my own. Their music is enriching my life on many levels. I have also discovered their videos and they don't disappoint either. I hope this band continues to make music for a long time. Highly recommended.

I love the album, which is why I bought it. One of my favorite contemporary albums. However, I don't think I'll be buying vinyls from Amazon anymore. Both records were pretty warped, they still play fine but they are definitely not flat. Im assuming they weren't properly stored in their warehouses (not stood upright, or they were stacked, exposed to temperature changes.) Shop local if you can, a real record store knows how to store them and can usually order any album you want from their distributer, which also probably knows how to store them.

First of all let me say that I love this record. Lush, melodic, dynamic, interesting... It flows perfectly from beginning to end and begs to be played over and over. Songs like "Norway" and "Walk in the Park" will stick in your head for days. I've been recommending this album to friends for weeks, even before it came out. Having said that... what were they thinking with the DVD? It's such a cobbled together mash of dissonant visual styles and poor, cheap, unworthy imagery... I mean, it is BAD. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the music without the visual accompaniment.

Great quality product. I am very impressed with the added extras and the lossless audio download included.

Top buy, sticker on the outside was a bit troublesome but the music is great

Great dream Pop !

Excellent cd especially the 1st track - very much like Mazzy Star in my opinion.

Recorded in upstate New York, in a converted church called Dreamland with producer/engineer Chris Coady (who has worked with TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blonde Redhead, and a bunch of others), Teen Dream is the third album from the Baltimore-based duo Beach House, and their Sub Pop debut. The album gives voice to a full universe of unbridled imagination, and the manifestation of Teen Dream was a welcomed and all-consuming obsession for Beach House at the time. Teen Dream was originally released in 2010, and this is its first time on cassette.

Beach House’s majesty reaches full flower on Teen Dream , the band’s third album. Fusing the layered sound of ’90s shoegaze, the passions of ’50s doo-wop, Rolling Stones-style ballads, and just a touch of lullaby, the Baltimore duo forge a style that’s beautiful but tough, mysterious but open. Against the LP’s soft-focus songs, Victoria Legrand’s voice sounds warm and husky. The overall effect is hypnotic, making for a collection that (ever so gently) demands repeated listens.

Third album from the Baltimore indie dream-pop band. 'Teen Dream' shares the same nostalgia as the first two albums but manages to paint a tremendously authentic portrait of youth and young love.
