Dear Abby: I am the single dad of two teenage boys (17 and 18) who are both in high school. I am wondering about something they do with their friends. The boys take showers in large groups. When they come in from running or sports, or if a group is spending the night, they shower in groups of two, three or four. It’s not like we have a huge shower — it’s normal size.

“My photography career began at my daily job for a small printing company. They had a need for a sports photographer, so with some pushing from my boss I decided to give it a try. I started out on a Pentax film camera. Of course with no training except from that of my boss, Terry, and his experience with photography from his newspaper reporting days, I shot multiple sports that we reported on. With time, and many wasted rolls of film, I had gotten good at waiting for the photo to come to me an not wasting frames. Also, after a few months I was trying out shooting images of people, mostly family.
“Being in college at the time, I had a friend ask me to do her wedding photography. By now we had moved into digital cameras and I thought I would try it. Looking back 8 years to that first wedding I think — Holy Hell — those are some awful photos. But that is how you get better, with practice, and it was a no charge gig anyway. With weddings came senior portrait photography and trying out my hand with seniors in sports.
“The interest in sports and the many ways you can light a photo/subject lead to my interest in male models. There are so many ways to light and show off a model’s physique, and this is what drives my interest into the world of male models. Each model is unique and in turn every shoot with a new model is one of a kind. Yes, lighting can stay the same but not all models can pull off the poses you may like.”
