SICK teenage torturers held a 15-year old schoolboy captive, branded him with a red hot iron and rubbed salt in his wounds during a sadistic campaign of bullying.
The terrified youngster was lured to a house and then burnt up to eight times with the scalding steam iron as he lay bound and gagged and gasping for breath.
During the savage attack, the victim's back was also slashed with a knife before lemon juice, salt, then disinfectant was rubbed into his wounds.
He was also punched, kicked, spat upon and sexually humiliated.
When the boy begged the college student bullies to stop they laughed at him with one saying: ''Let's kill him and make sure he doesn't open his mouth.''
The unnamed lad who had been targeted simply because he was wanted to join their circle of friends was so ashamed of the attack he hid his injuries from his family and refused to report it.
Police were eventually called in by his worried teachers who saw at school how badly he had been hurt and he was taken to hospital where horrified nurses discovered the brand marks showing the imprint of steam holes from an iron.
Doctors fear he is now scarred for life.
Initially the boy claimed he had been beaten up by a gang of East European men but eventually confessed he was being viciously bullied.
It emerged he had been repeatedly targeted over five months during which he had been forced to hand over £800 for a faulty mobile phone.
When he refused to steal his mother's credit card and PIN number he was beaten up and stripped in an alleyway before mobile phone pictures of him naked were posted to the social media network Instagram.
In another incident he was stripped and beaten before being made to run through the fountains of a public park.
The lad's mother later told how she mistakenly thought her son had been taking drugs after he was caught stealing items from relatives.
She said her son would hide in the kitchen whenever his tormentors turned up at their family home in Oldham, Greater Manchester and made up excuses not to go school.
On Thursday at Minshull Street Crown Court Judge Timothy Mort agreed to lift an order banning the public knowing the identities of the bullies as he locked them away for a total of almost 20 years.
Shohaib Khan, 17, the ringleader of the bullies was sent to youth custody for six and half years after he admitted GBH with intent, blackmail and false imprisonment.
At the time of the torture attack he was bail for biting off another man's ear during an unrelated assault.
Ahsan Khan, 15 got five years whilst Sufyan Yaqub, 16, and Adam Hussain, 16, each got four years, all convicted of GBH with intent, blackmail and false imprisonment.
A fifth boy Naseem Ali, 17, was given a 12 month community order after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The judge told the teenagers: ''This was cold blooded behaviour and you enjoyed what you were doing.
"This boy was too frightened to tell anybody what was happening so you carried on extorting money from him.
''It was a campaign of blackmail and then violence upon this young man who was subject to what might be described close to torture.
"This was such a serious crime that it's in the public interest that the names should be known - it has valuable deterrence. ''
Jon Close prosecuting, said the offences occurred between May 1 and October 5, 2015 after the bullies met their victim at school.
He said: "'The boy had wanted to be part of this circle of friends but his desire to be accepted by them allowed him to be put in situations where he was victimised.
"The bullying behaviour escalated to blackmail, humiliation, sexual abuse and a sustained act of violence that could easily borderline on torture."
The bullying began when the boy was sold a broken mobile phone for £170 by Shohaib, and ordered to pay ten instalments of £80 each.
Mr Close added: ''He was told to get his mothers bank card or get 'leathered'.
"Because he didn't get the card the threat was carried out in an alley and was kicked all over his body.
''The boy didn't complain about what was happening to him because it would appear he still wanted the approval of some or all of these defendants.
"In a park he was again stripped and beaten and a bin was put on his head before he was kicked and forced to run around the park while others could see him.''
An iPhone was stolen from the boy and sold at a shop for £110 and later the lad was beaten again and told he had to find £200.
The hot iron attack occurred on October 5 last year after the boy was taken to the home of one of the bullies.
Once in the front room he was grabbed and punched to the floor.
Mr Close said: ''The defendants were told to leave their shoes on to cause more injury and the boy was repeatedly punched and trodden on.
"When he was on the floor they all kicked him.
''Shohaib got some tape and tied it around his mouth, hands and feet until the boy found it hard to breathe.
"He was punched, slapped, teased and spat on. Shohaib brought a knife with salt and lemon juice and Adam Hussain brought a hot iron.
"The knife was used to cut his back and lemon juice and salt was applied.
"The hot iron was then used and he was slapped on the wounds which broke the skin.
"The boy was burnt on at least six occasions, maybe as many as eight.
"During this, the boy was also subject to sexual humiliation.
''Afterwards he was sent to the bathroom to clean himself up and when there there Dettol was poured on the wounds and after this he was made to clean up his own blood.
"The boy didn't complain and refused to tell his family what happened but he was taken to hospital the next day from school.''
In a statement the boy told how he he had problems with ''sleeping, flash backs and nightmares.''
He said he was missing out on school because he didn't feel mentally ready to go back.
Mr Close said: ''He has problems with trust and is still terrified of these defendants.
"He said the incident affected him greatly and impacted on his self esteem. He feels ashamed.''
In mitigation lawyers for the bullies said the felt ''great sorrow and shame'' for their behaviour.
For Shohaib, Miss Rachel Fox said: "What has started as a type of playground bullying behaviour has completely spiralled into sinister behaviour.
"He recognises that his confidence, popularity and ability to get on with people turned into arrogance in a way he can see now.
"He says 'I wish I could turn back and stop myself in my tracks.
"I thought I was the big man I've learned my lesson'.
"His parents are horrified and had they known what was happening, they would have intervened themselves.''
