'Bubbling' Is the New Teen Trend That Will Make You Gag
It was only a matter of time before the teens of today (boys of the nadsat), bored with their petty theft and criminal mischief, got tired of silly games like butt chugging and Neknomination and began searching in earnest for something to entertain themselves with that would be both disgusting and completely pointless. And so, Bubbling was born to satisfy that need. And teens saw that it was good! And the summer of 2014 became the summer that they would start pissing into their own mouths and posting the pictures online. Because who cares about future employment? Certainly not the boys who are shooting their urine into their own mouths, smelling and tasting the asparagus they had for dinner.
Bubbling , which is literally just peeing into your own mouth (no, that's really it) was originally a fake trend started by Australian skaters that has now become very real. It began with a picture of a young man at a rock concert; a young man (I assume) so overtaken with the music he was listening to that he had no choice but to whip out his garden hose and start peeing into his own mouth as a self-soothing strategy for all the feelings he was experiencing. I understand this. Not the peeing into one's own mouth thing (because I am often dehydrated :/) but being so overcome with emotion that you have to do something crazy in the moment. For me, it was when the Gilmore Girls ended. Except instead of peeing into my own mouth I clutched a decorative throw pillow and cried about the fact that I would never again visit Stars Hollow for the first time. The people who saw the first instance of bubbling, by the way, were maybe not as enthused as the young man in question.
"this dude straight up pissed into his own mouth in the middle of the mosh pit".
"It went everywhere," the witness, Adon1kam, continued. "All down his shirt and in his hair, he seriously went for for like a solid minute. It was feral. And yes he just went on like nothing happened afterwards, it was one of the funniest/strangest/most disgusting and confusing things I've ever seen in my life."
Disgusting and confusing appear to be good ways to describe the trend, which some sources are reporting as completely fake. In fact, the first known mention of the bubbling phenomenon was mentioned in Vice by Australian skater Troy West, who says that the practice is so common in Australia that it's passed on from generation to generation like a precious heirloom. West told Vice that his father taught him how to bubble (I have the insane urge to scream "teach me how to bubble , teach me teach me how to bubble" to my empty living room as I write this) and if this logic holds, West may one day teach his own son the art of bubbling. My own father tried to teach me how to play soccer, but gave up when he realized that my body type was meant for video games, not sports played on grassy fields. Perhaps bubbling could have made our relationship stronger, less strained.
Even if West is just courting controversy with his statements, bubbling has gotten one high-profile athlete in trouble. Todd Carney, a Rugby league player, was fired after photos of him pissing into his own mouth surfaced on the internet. While Carney claims he was just "mucking around" with "his boys" and not promoting the practice of bubbling, Regardless, his firing has inspired teen boys everywhere (who follow Rugby) to start pissing in their own mouths and posting the photos to internet groups with names such as Piss In Your Mouth For Todd Carney , which only features two photos, but is apparently only one of the groups that Facebook has been yanking down as soon as they come up.
The fact that teen boys are doing something stupid in support of an athlete is understandable, but if bubbling exists outside of this futile Facebook protest, it raises the question of what's the point? If fathers really are passing the secret knowledge of turning yourself into a gurgling water fountain down to their sons, is there any point to it other than being gross and asserting some kind of feral masculinity? Bear Grylls drank urine and ate fecal matter to survive, but what's the point if there's nothing at stake. And why urine specifically? Why aren't men, as a colleague pointed out, eating their own fecal matter or sucking on used tampons? These things are just as shocking and messy as urine. (or maybe less messy, as the witness account above points out, as urine will get everywhere: on you, your friends, and innocent bystanders.)
The point of teen fads (POGS4LYFE) is that they're supposed to be fun, get you high (in some way or another) for at least a second and make the olds feel just a little nostalgic for the fleeting gem that was their youth. This fad accomplishes none of those things and fails as a trend, fake or otherwise. Unless, and I am being cautiously optimistic here, this act helps those teens who may be into water sports discover a part of their sexuality that they've been repressing. In that case, more power to you! Godspeed!

An emboldened Jeffrey Epstein traveled the world with one of his underage sex slaves in the years before his arrest, and even took the photos to prove it according to court papers.
That victim, Virginia Roberts, included these photos as proof of Epstein's depraved behavior in multiple lawsuits.
In one she is seen on a New York City ferry while others show her horse riding and posing up in front of a museum treasure chest.
Those three photos were taken by Epstein himself she claims, when he shuttled her to New Mexico for the weekend.
All the while raping her and letting his friends do the same, according to Roberts' lawsuit.
Kids incorporated: Virginia Roberts (above in NYC at 15 in a photo taken by Epstein was just 15 when she was recruited while working at the Mar-a-Lago spa to be Jeffrey Epstein's sex slave
Snow day: She is now suing the United States for how they handled the prosecution of Epstein, and in her filing has included pictures he took of her around the world (above in New Mexico at 17)
Fool's gold: Robert was able to see the world during her years with Epstein, who flew her around the world while he and his friends raped the teenager (Roberts above at a museum in New Mexico in 2001 in a photo snapped by Epstein)
'Epstein took me on a ferry boat on one of the trips to New York City and there he took the picture above. I was approximately 15 or 16 years old at the time,' she writes of the first photo.
In that picture, Roberts looks years younger than her age as she smiles for the camera while on an unchaperoned trip with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell over 1,000 miles away from home.
'You can see how young I looked in the photograph,' she notes, while also revealing she was raped by Epstein at his Manhattan mansion on that trip.
'Over the next few weeks, Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell trained me to do what they wanted, including sexual activities and the use of sexual toys,' she wrote.
'The training was in New York and Florida, at Epstein's mansions. It was basically every day and was like going to school. I also had to have sex with Epstein many times.'
Roberts said that she was trained to be 'everything a man wanted me to be.'
The photos that were used by Roberts make it clear that she was with Epstein at some of his properties, most notably his ranch in New Mexico.
Epstein served just a year in prison for his offenses following a 2005 criminal probe
'The first one is a museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We had gone sightseeing for the day. Epstein took this picture of me. I was approximately 17 at the time, judging from the looks of it,' write Roberts.
'At the end of the day we returned to Epstein's Zorro Ranch. The second picture is me on one of Epstein's horses on the ranch in New Mexico. The following two are from wintertime in New Mexico.'
Roberts and another underage victim are suing the government for the sweetheart plea deal they offered Epstein, and for failing to provide the plaintiffs and other victims with any concrete information about the sex offender.
In her case, Roberts did in fact get a letter from the FBI, but not until long after the plea deal had negotiated and Epstein's non-prosecution deal and signed.
That letter is attached as an exhibit in one filing, and shows it was mailed in September, more than two months after Epstein signed off on the deal in June .
'You can see how young I looked in the photograph,' Roberts noted in one court filing
Tree of life: 'If I left Epstein, he knew all kinds of powerful people. He could have had me killed or abducted, and I always knew he was capable of that,' said Roberts
Roberts, who was the first and remains one of the few Epstein victims who has gone public with her allegations, recounted how she found herself being shuttled around the world and raped by men three times her age in court papers.
'Epstein had promised me a lot, and I knew if I left I would be in big trouble. I also knew that I was a witness to a lot of illegal and very bad behavior by Epstein and his friends,' stated one filing.
'If I left Epstein, he knew all kinds of powerful people. He could have had me killed or abducted, and I always knew he was capable of that if I did not obey him. He let me know that he knew many people in high places. Speaking about himself, he said 'I can get away' with things. I was very scared, particularly since I was a teenager.'
Virginia Roberts pictured with Prince Andrew, then a friend of Epstein, in 2001
And she was not the only one who was scared she claims in court documents.
'When I was with him, Epstein had sex with underage girls on a daily basis. His interest in this kind of sex was obvious to the people around him,' noted Roberts.
'The activities were so obvious and bold that anyone spending any significant time at one of Epstein's residences would have clearly been aware of what was going on.'
Ms Roberts in the past claimed in US court papers that she slept with Prince Andrew, a former friend of Epstein – however he has always denied any involvement and the allegations were later struck from the record as being 'immaterial and impertinent'.

The trend of using unconventional items to blend one's make-up has been going strong for more than a year.
We've seen vloggers apply their foundation using everything from the PG-rated hard-boiled eggs and socks to the more R-rated tampons and condoms.
But to the shock of the internet, an 18-year-old girl has now gone full-on NC-17 and filmed herself using her boyfriend's testicles to buff in her face base.
From start to finish: As a social media stunt, Johnna Hines, 18, uploaded a video to Twitter in which she used her boyfriend's balls instead of a make-up sponge to blend her foundation
Up close and personal: Before Johnna shot the video, she applied foundation to her forehead
'It actually works really nice because it's warm,' Johnna Hines said in the video, while gently dabbing her boyfriend's balls against her forehead.
Johnna got the idea when she was putting on her make-up and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Damon Richards, stepped out of the shower.
'He's always messing with me so he started putting his balls on my head,' she told BuzzFeed News . 'I made a joke about using them as a beauty blender and we literally just looked at each other and started laughing and made the video from there.'
Light-b all b moment: Johnna said she got the idea for the video after her boyfriend, Damon Richards (center), 20, stepped out of the shower while she was doing her make-up
Couple goals? The pair, who live in Florida, don't mind the negative feedback they've received . 'So many people love how comfortable my boyfriend and I are together,' Johnna told Buzzfeed
The stunt, which the Florida resident uploaded to Twitter two days ago, was clearly meant to grab the attention of social media, and with 25,500 retweets and 37,000 likes and counting, it certainly seems to have worked.
People's reactions have varied, with some, including well-known male beauty YouTuber Manny MUA retweeting the video and saying, 'IM F***ING SCREAMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'
The video also caught the attention of fellow boy vlogger Jeffree Star who tweeted:
Other viewers, however, didn't find it so funny, and Beauty Blender, the company that makes one of the most popular make-up sponges available tweeted this gif of its feelings:
In fairness, Johnna did ask the Twitterverse if she should even post the graphic video.
She embedded a poll questioning, 'Y'all dare me to post a video of me using Damon nuts as a beauty blender?'
More than 104,000 votes were cast, with 59 percent replying 'LMAO yes' and 41 percent opting for 'wtf b*tch no'.
Johnna told Buzzfeed the negative comments don't bother her because of how much positive feedback she's received.
'I'm getting DM after DM from girls telling me I'm inspiring for being so carefree and confident and so many people love how comfortable my boyfriend and I are together, it feels really good TBH.'
Regardless of your opinions on the video, let's hope that this the last time we'll see an odd item used instead of a make-up sponge. Really, there's nowhere else to go from here (we hope), and the real deals really work - try one of these .
