Teen Arrested in his Bedroom after Attempting to make Hoax Bomb Threats to Schools


A 19-year-old has admitted to making bomb threats against schools across the country, leading to the evacuation of more than 400 schools.

George Duke-Cohan, Watford, also sent mass emails to schools throughout the UK saying that pipe bombs had been planted on their premises. He was being investigated.

At the Luton Magistrates' court yesterday he admitted making bomb threats to thousands of schools and a United Airlines flight travelling from the UK to San Francisco last month.

He was arrested in his bedroom at his family home in Watford.

This was the time George Duke-Cohan was arrested for the third time following hoax calls and saying an aircraft was captured by gunmen

Audio released today features George Duke-Cohan posing as a concerned father whose daughter told that her flight was hijacked by gunmen one of whom is carrying bombs.

He is heard complaining while he expresses his displeasure at not receiving an update on the supposed hijacking.

The teenager from Hertfordshire has pleaded guilty to three counts of hoax bomb threats.

Hundreds of UK schools were evacuated after threats in March. Duke-Cohan being arrested days after the mass hoax.

However, while being investigated in April, he claimed bombs has been put in both American and British schools.

The fake bomb threats were revealed at the time to be part of a Minecraft gamer feud.

The emails that were sent out to the public were faked to appear to have been sent by a gaming site known as VeltPvP - an online Minecraft player-versus-player server.

Schools across the UK received up to 24,000 emails, which includes those in London, Bristol, and Humberside.

While being held on bail in connection with threats to schools, Duke Cohan called San Francisco Airport and their security personnel to report that an explosive was in the aircraft.

Hacker group Apophis Squad claimed that flight UAL 949 was grounded as a result of their actions in a tweet in August.

Duke-Cohan acted like a worried father when he rang the airport, claiming that his daughter was aboard the plane.

Staff were informed by him that his daughter had called him to report that gunmen had taken over the plane and that one had bombs.

The bomb hoaxes of this year caused the evacuation of 400 schools in Uxbridge, including Bishopsalt School.

After being threatened, the evacuation of 400 schools of Selly Park Technology College for Girls (pictured) took place in Birmingham.

Fairholme Primary School, Feltham, west London The school informed parents that they were closing earlier this year due to the threat.

When it landed in San Francisco the plane was secured by security officials. The 295 passengers were then instructed to stay on board.

The investigation grounded the aircraft and disrupted other scheduled flights at the airport.
