Technical Researcher / Sourcer (Remote)
Boutique Recruiting Firm | Talent Research & Strategic Sourcing
Are you the person who cannot stop digging once you start? Do you get genuinely excited about mapping out a niche market, finding the candidate nobody else surfaced, or figuring out exactly who reports to whom inside a fast-scaling startup?
We are a boutique recruiting firm that partners with high-growth, venture-backed startups (Seed through Series D) to solve their hardest hiring challenges in Engineering, Product, and Design. We do not run a volume shop. We run a small number of searches at a time, and we treat every one of them as a research problem to be solved.
We are looking for a Technical Researcher / Sourcer to join our team and become the architect behind our search strategies.
What you will do
* Build market maps that show where top Engineering, Product, and Design talent lives inside a sector (AI/ML, Fintech, SaaS, and beyond)
* Build precise, high-quality candidate pipelines using LinkedIn Recruiter at a power-user level, including advanced Boolean search
* Go beyond LinkedIn when the search calls for it, using GitHub, Crunchbase, patent databases, conference speaker lists, or open-source contribution history
* Track funding rounds, headcount trends, and team growth to help our clients understand not just who to hire, but when and where talent is likely to become available
* Maintain clean, well-organized, immediately actionable Google Sheets across every active search
* Work closely with our recruiters and managing partners, joining kickoff calls and debriefs to keep research aligned with what the client actually needs
What makes you a strong fit
* You have real, hands-on experience sourcing or researching for Engineering, Product, or Design roles, ideally within the startup or tech ecosystem. Strong skill matters more to us than years on a resume
* You can build a Boolean search from scratch and explain why you built it that way
* You are comfortable researching beyond LinkedIn and can speak to specific examples of doing so
* Your Google Sheets are clean enough that someone else could open them and act immediately
* You are naturally curious about companies, markets, and talent trends, and you read funding news or engineering blogs because you want to, not because you have to
Nice to have
* Experience building market maps or talent ecosystem research for a specific sector
* Background at a boutique or retained search firm
* Familiarity with startup funding stages and what they mean for hiring
This is a fully remote, part-time to full-time contract role. Compensation is up to $8/hr USD, based on experience and demonstrated skill.
If you love the investigative side of recruiting and want to build the kind of candidate intelligence that changes how a client thinks about their market, we would love to hear from you.
