Technical Animator/Rigger, remote



As a Technical Animator/Rigger, you will play a key role in developing character rigs and ensuring they meet the technical demands of real-time performance capture and crowd simulations. Your work will be integral to achieving the artistic vision as defined by the Art Director and fulfilling the technical requirements set by the Technical Art Director. This role involves close collaboration with various teams to ensure smooth production pipelines and innovative solutions.


Responsibilities:

- Design, create, test, and maintain character rigs and setups to meet both technical and artistic requirements.

- Develop and maintain motion and deformation systems for characters.

- Innovate and implement new techniques to address production and optimization challenges.

- Create, set up, and maintain Animation Blueprints within Unreal Engine 5 (UE5).

- Work closely with the Technical Art Director to ensure technical solutions are well-planned, structured, and properly documented.

- Provide support to Character Artists with production tools and techniques.

- Collaborate with animators to enhance rigging controls for smoother workflows.


Qualifications:

- 7+ years of production experience in the industry.

- 5+ years of experience in rigging, with expertise in Maya (real-time experience preferred).

- Strong understanding of real-time development processes and limitations.

- Deep knowledge of Maya rigging, skeletal, and animation systems.

- Expertise in Unreal Engine’s character and animation systems.

- Strong grasp of both body and facial anatomy.

- Experience with Python and MEL scripting languages.

- Motion capture (Mocap) experience.

- Passion for solving technical problems in creative ways.
