Being a tease isn't usually a good thing, but teasing content can be a great tool to extend the life of your content or create anticipation and buzz for a social media launch or reveal! This week's tip reviews how teasing content can help your social media campaign .
So what exactly do I mean by teasing content? I mean take your final piece of content, and break it up into smaller pieces of content to release in increments to your network. This technique can be beneficial when you're running into content snags, if you want to try something different to get a little more engagement from your audience, or as part of a larger social push/launch. This method also works when you want to extend the life of a campaign or simply continue to drive traffic to a landing page or content.
Remember, teasing content isn't always about a reveal, or what's coming up, but can be about breathing life into a dying campaign or presenting the same old content in new context . This new context can re-engage an audience that may have been getting bored, and gives your brand an opportunity to flex a little creative muscle. Teasing out bits of a larger piece gives your audience a taste for what the full feature will be. Much like handing out samples, your audience gets to "try" before they commit to signing up to your webinar, or participating in your promotion. Maybe you'll attract someone who didn't know they'd be interested in the particular subject, or product until you spiked interest with a snackable portion.
Can any of your social media campaigns benefit from teasing content ?

THE ART OF THE TEASE: HOW TO LAUNCH A MARKETING TEASER CAMPAIGN

Learn how easy it is to get started with gamification.

Consumers demand more than traditional forms of engagement. They now have much higher expectations and expect brands to amuse and entertain them. This is where a teaser campaign comes in.
A teaser campaign is a marketing technique whereby often cryptic advertisements are released, usually with an aim of creating a buzz about a new product, service, or larger campaign. Teaser campaigns can generate social engagement, intrigue, and excitement when done right. Popular platforms for teaser campaigns can include print, in the form of billboards, or social media platforms (photos or video).
Teaser campaigns create anticipation, drawing on human curiosity by revealing enough to capture audiences, but without revealing too much about the wider campaign or project. Teaser campaigns are a great way of lifting the profile of a company in time for the wider campaign launch.
When launching a product – and aiming for maximum impact – a teaser campaign, also known as a pre-launch campaign, can be a very effective way of generating curiosity and buzz around your product before the big reveal.
People love to be in the know, and they love to solve mysteries. So in your teaser campaign, you’ll want to use that to hook people into the build-up to your launch. Make them curious, make them believe that solving the mystery will be worthwhile, and you will have them wanting to come back to you for more.
Product launch teaser – Learn from the master of suspense – Dan Brown
In the months leading up to the launch of Dan Brown’s newest novel, Origin, BeeLiked created a series of teaser campaigns for his fans to learn little by little about the upcoming blockbuster novel. It started with a low-key design contest to design a special limited edition cover for Origin. Six finalists were chosen, and fans were invited to vote on their favorite. Those that voted were rewarded with a surprise – a personalized book signing video where Dan magically welcomes each person by name to his house and writes their name in the book. Each fan received their very own book signing video, generated in less than six seconds. Check out the video below.
If you’re interested in creating personalized video product launch campaigns, get in touch with us here at BeeLiked . We’ve built personalized video technology into the BeeLiked platform – you’ll be amazed at what we can create.
Once you have piqued their curiosity, start revealing a bit more information to keep your audience interested. Create suspense, perhaps releasing one clue at a time or maybe asking your audience to guess what the product could be. Keeping your audience engaged by drip-feeding information that will allow them to speculate what will happen next. Try to be unpredictable… if there’s one thing people love as much as a mystery, it’s a surprise!
For example… Virgin produced a scavenger hunt campaign to promote its loyalty program, Virgin Red.
‘V marks the spot’ had over a million coins of various forms, physical and digital, each featuring the face of Richard Branson, hidden in various locations around the UK and on websites. Each coin had a code that could be added to the Virgin Red app, leading in turn to prizes and offers, the main prize seeing winners going to Necker Island (Branson’s private island in the British Virgin Islands) for a real-life treasure hunt.
Before the launch, Branson teased the audience with clues as far back as April, with a video of him finding buried treasure. The video was
