It’s exactly what it sounds like, so if you’re underage: begone fetus.
Basically a bunch of old Kinktober prompts to go with randomly selected ships. It’s random and hot. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[Open Now!] "Most Dramatic Hobby" Tournament Round 2!

Firstly, yes, Team Fortress 2 is still alive. Onto the drama.
TF2 has nine unique classes. Of those, the Pyro stands head and shoulders above everyone else as the easiest class in the game. He's so simple that just holding fire and walking forward (affectionately dubbed "W+M1ing") is an effective strategy.
Then a player named Sketchek started uploading some videos to YouTube. He didn't get much traction until he released "pyrokinesis α" , a compilation of himself playing Pyro, but there was something that set him apart from your typical W+M1er. He utilized the Pyro's sidegrades (namely the Detonator for explosive jumps and Axtinguisher for the 100% crits against burning players) to push the class to it's fullest potential, going so far as to things that are normally impossible, the biggest being lighting other Pyros on fire to get a one-hit kill with the Axtinguisher.
His stuff wasn't particularly flashy or well edited, but the high-skill gameplay with a focus on the intricacies of the games' engine and it's various quirks were enough for the hardcore Team Fortress 2 community to fall in love with Sketchek.
In late 2015 Sketchek released a now private video where he explained that he had a rare condition (which he refused to elaborate on) with an extremely low survival rate, so he would finish and release the last few videos he was working on before quitting YouTube and Team Fortress 2 entirely to enjoy the remaining years of his life.
The community grieved before moving on, but nobody entirely forgot about Sketchek. He inspired a wave of new players to pick up and master this class that was previously seen as terrible and nooby. People showed their respect for the player by naming their favorite weapons after him, making content inspired by him , and in late 2018, Valve reworked his signature weapon, the Axtinguisher, and named a new mechanic "Sketchek's Bequest" to honor the player that breathed so much life into the class.
Since then, rumors have floated around for years that whatever condition he had proved fatal, and our favorite Pyro main passed away, but because he had entirely up and left, nobody could contact him or his family to verify these rumors as true or false.
Until yesterday, when two new videos were uploaded to his channel. The first (now private) was a compilation of some of his old, previously uploaded clips and a picture of a frog with a banana peel on his head, prompting people to question if he was back or if a friend or family member uploaded the video to his account.
The second video was entirely new, with a voiceover from Sketchek himself. He explained that whatever sickness he had was actually a joke. Back in 2014 he took a trip to Japan where he realized that video games were ruining his life, so he quit video games and YouTube entirely.
The TL;DR of the video is that he felt extremely guilty about faking his death and doesn't expect the community to forgive him, but he's ready to come back and make more TF2 videos.
Understandably, the community reaction has been very, very mixed. Half of the community seems to have already forgiven him whereas some are still (understandably) conflicted about the whole situation.
And as for the mechanic that Valve named after him, everyone, Sketchek included, wants to see it named after someone else.
Wouldn’t it have been much easier to say “video games are taking over my life and I want a change” than to fake your own death!?
You would definitely think so. In the video announcing his return, Sketchek explained that, while it was a joke, it helped him stay away from video games and YouTube, because if there was any activity people would know something's up.
I think an example of trying that is DSPStanky from Overwatch. He was a fantastic Lucio player kinda making a whole new way to play the character popular. His stream was huge, but he started to hate playing OW because people complained if he didn't play Lucio. Also the game's community itself was pretty toxic. He said he was going to quit OW and got tons of hate from the community. I think he still streams some other games and has a bit better balance in his life, but he still gets asked tons of he's going to play Lucio.
Gaming is still largely a boy's club and pro gaming especially. He honestly would have been trolled to death if he told gamers he was gaming too much. Maybe even death threats from angry neckbeards and ten year olds insulted anyone would leave their lifestyle behind. I honestly agree with his choice. I don't think it's an especially good idea to be known as the face of an obscure hobby with a childish fanbase and then tell that fanbase that overindulging in that hobby is a bad idea, then leave forever. I bet it's absolutely easier and safer to pretend you're about to die and then just let people forget.
But whats the fun in that? If you can believably fake your death with 0 consequences, why not?
doesnt get u nearly as much attention tho
Yep! Over ten years old but it still manages to get around 50k players a day. It recently broke it's all-time highest player count over this Christmas too.
I loved the game but holy hell did it tank for a while when it was drowning in new players after it became free.
Toward the end of my TF2 years, I was really having fun as Pyro and Spy. But the game taught me the value of cowardice as a medic.
Another thing to note: The apology video feels fairly sincere, right up until the part where he passes off any potential criticism from other youtubers as virtue signaling. That part in particular has sparked some contention, as if the whole situation wasn't bad enough.
Yeah, that was... a weird place to take an apology video. He really should've focused more on what he did to the community and not how people would react.
Oh, jesus, yeah. I've never exactly heard... Anyone use virtue signalling coming from a positive place.
That part alone was the reason why I don't like him now. If he had left it at that, I honestly would've accepted his apology, cause in my eyes, so long as your forgiveness is held up and you don't repeat your errors, you can be forgiven for a lot of stupid shit.
But when he said that, I knew his apology wasn't sincere, and that given the chance, he'd pull similar shit in the future perhaps.
Holy shit, is this just the past few days? Havent even seen this on r/tf2 or anything like that
Yup! r/tf2 has actually fostered a ton of discussion on the subject. If you search 'Sketchek' on the subreddit, there's a ton of posts from the last few days.
Oh wow, drama that I'm actually somewhat aware of! Wild.
While i do agree faking your own death is kinda a shitty move, and trying to come back (almost) like nothing happened is a shit move, i don't think the mechanic should be renamed.
Or if it is to be changed, remove it all-together.
He may not have been the one who invented that move, or posted it first, but he was the one who made it public and popular, inspiring others to try it, and play a class that was formerly delegated to spy checking, rocket tennis, and rushing-and-burning.
