A Florida substitute teacher was busted for having sex with a teenage student who allegedly shared one of their trysts in a Snapchat video, law enforcement officials said.
Ayanna Davis, 20, a substitute English teacher at Lakeland High School, was arrested on Friday after she admitted to having unprotected sex with the student four times — twice at her house and twice at the victim’s house, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release .
Davis’ admission matched with statements made by the victim, whose exact age wasn’t disclosed but was listed in the release as 16 years old or younger .
Authorities launched a probe of the teacher on Dec. 3, after a student informed the school’s resource officer that a Snapchat video was circulating that showed Davis having sex with a student. The video was reportedly shown to a large group of the school’s football team.
Law enforcement officials have not yet been able to view the video, but are working on tracking it down.
“I know it’s out there someplace,” Sheriff Grady Judd told WFLA .
After her interview with police, Davis was charged by the sheriff’s office with two counts of sexual battery by custodian and offenses against students by an authority figure. She additionally was charged with two additional counts of sexual battery by the Lakeland Police Department.
“This is a clear violation of sexual battery laws. She was in a position of influence over the victim, and she took advantage of that for her own twisted pleasure,” Judd said.
She made her first court appearance on Dec. 11, when a $60,000 bond was ordered for all five charges. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 10, 2022.
According to officials, Davis is not a Polk County Public Schools employee, but served at Lakeland High School as a substitute teacher through staffing company Kelly Education Services.
The company has been instructed that Davis is no longer able to work in any Polk County public schools, officials said.
“We expect substitute teachers to uphold the same high standards of conduct and professionalism as our full-time educators,” said Superintendent Frederick Heid in a statement . “The charges against this person are disgraceful and a complete violation of the trust that teachers build with their students. There is no room in our schools for this type of conduct.”
The Polk County school district changed its policy in October permitting anyone 20 years old or older with a high school or GED diploma to be a substitute teacher, according to WFLA.

A teacher from Statesville who was arrested on suspicion of child sex crimes is now facing additional charges after investigators learned that the juvenile victim went to the teacher’s home nine times after her original arrest in August.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Elizabeth Suzanne Bailey is now being held on an $800,000 secured bond after new charges were filed last Friday.
Channel 9 reported in early August when Bailey, 36, was arrested for felony statutory sex offense with a child under 15. Investigators told Channel 9 that they got information from a family member of the victim about the alleged sexual relationship, and after searching through Bailey’s “digital and social media communications,” she was charged.
After Bailey’s original arrest, she was charged and placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring. Part of her original bond release conditions stated that she had to stay away from the juvenile victim in the case.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators learned that “the juvenile victim had been at Bailey’s residence on nine occasions since her original arrest on Aug. 1, 2022.”
The sheriff’s office says 27 new charges were filed against Bailey on Friday. She was arrested at her home and booked into custody in the Iredell County Detention Center. She’s facing nine counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor, nine counts of felony intimidating or interfering with a state witness, and nine counts of felony violation of pre-trial release conditions.
School officials said Bailey worked at Northview Academy, formerly known as Pressly Alternative School. She was first employed with the Iredell-Statesville School District in February 2010 as an assistant. She most recently worked as a science teacher.
Iredell-Statesville Schools said Bailey has been suspended with pay pending the investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

The Republican candidate for Illinois governor, Darren Bailey, on Tuesday promised to restore the death penalty and repeal a wide-ranging criminal justice overhaul that will eliminate cash bail, following a Labor Day weekend during which 11 people were killed in Chicago. The state senator from Xenia met privately in Springfield with county sheriffs from around Illinois and emerged with criticism for Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the so-called SAFE-T Act approved last year, which starting next year will end bail for many nonviolent crimes that had been dubbed a “penalty on poverty" by critics. Bailey said he would restore capital punishment, abolished in Illinois in 2011, for people who murder police officers.
Jeremie Hoyt, 42, of Davenport, N.Y. was handed a 25-year federal prison sentence for sexually exploiting a child and distributing child pornography.

BENSON, N.C. (WNCN) — The West Johnston High School community is picking up the pieces after an English teacher was charged with having sex with a student under the age of 15.
Students tell CBS 17 Amanda Doll’s classes have now been divided up and mixed in with other classes, since their originally assigned teacher remains in jail.
Newly obtained warrants show the date of offense was August 12—before the school year had started.
The court documents also indicate the three charges, statutory rape of a child under the age of 15, sex act with a student, and incident liberties with a child were all connected to the same male student.
CBS17 reached out to school district officials after parents reported that they did not receive notification from the school leaders regarding the arrest and charges, even if they had kids in Doll’s classroom.
An official with the school district confirmed the reports of the parents.
There was not a message sent to parents.
Johnston County Public Schools takes any allegations of staff misconduct seriously. Although we cannot discuss the specifics of an investigation into alleged staff misconduct, we can confirm that whenever such allegations arise, our administration responds swiftly, by investigating the allegations and, sometimes, by removing staff from classrooms pending completion of a thorough review.
School administrators are always able and willing to speak with any and all parents who may have concerns regarding any issue that occurs.”
A CBS 17 crew stopped by Doll’s home Tuesday afternoon where several cars were seen in the driveway.
“We have no comment at this time,” the man who opened the door told CBS 17 just a couple of hours after Doll made her first court appearance.
Doll was appointed a temporary public defender and she was seen shaking her head as the judge listed her charges.
“My husband was working on getting me an attorney. He’s supposed to be here today,” Doll told the judge.
“Alright, do you not see him here now?” the judge asked.
“No,” Doll responded. “He was meeting with an attorney early this morning. I don’t know what happened.”
She was in tears as she repeatedly searched the courtroom for someone.
Doll also asked the judge to lower her $1 million bond.
“Is there any way, I can maybe lower, get a lower bond?” she asked. “I have four children and I work full time. This is my first… anything.”
The judge told her that her attorney would have to file that request.
Two junior students at West Johnston High School told CBS 17 a lot of students knew Doll very well after her first year of teaching at the school.
“It’s crazy because it’s not expected from her at all,” said Kati Parrish. “She was so loved and chill with the kids.”
“Everyone was just really surprised and shocked,” added Carley Weeks.
The students said that Doll was very active on her TikTok and tried to connect with her students. They also told CBS 17 Doll had a student come babysit her children for her.
Doll’s next court appearance will be Sept. 22 for a probable cause hearing.
CBS 17 reached out to Doll’s appointed attorney and has not heard back.
