A British high school teacher who allegedly slept with a student on prom night was reportedly wearing an inappropriate outfit at the event, sparking concern among her colleagues.
Melissa Tweedie faces being struck off the Scottish teaching registry for the romp, which purportedly occurred after the 2017 Gleniffer High School prom. At the time, she was 23 and the pupil was 18 years old.
At a General Teaching Council for Scotland hearing last week, the school’s deputy head, Heather Prentice, recalled that Tweedie was scantily clad on the night she and other teachers attended the prom in a professional capacity.
“I do remember it [her outfit] was quite loose, short, low cut,” Prentice testified, according to the Sun. “She looked like she was going on a night out.”
The deputy principal also recalled that Tweedie was dancing with a group of “all-male pupils” at the event and was “reluctant” to leave with the other teachers when the formalities were over.
Instead, the young PE teacher went with some of the students to a nearby nightclub, where she is alleged to have downed shots with them.
“Can we for a minute act like I’m not a teacher?” Tweedie is purported to have said to the group.
The teacher later accompanied the group to a nearby hotel, before she and the 18-year-old student allegedly ended up alone together and began kissing.
“We went downstairs and had sex in my room. She stayed the night, and we both left at 8 a.m.,” the anonymous student testified.
“I feel really sorry for Miss Tweedie,” the student continued. “I had already handed in my leaver’s form [leaving school certificate]. In my eyes, it wasn’t a student event. This could have happened on a night out.”
Scottish police have found that no criminal activity took place. Tweedie is now said to be working in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as a yoga instructor.

A Florida substitute teacher was busted for having sex with a teenage student who allegedly shared one of their trysts in a Snapchat video, law enforcement officials said.
Ayanna Davis, 20, a substitute English teacher at Lakeland High School, was arrested on Friday after she admitted to having unprotected sex with the student four times — twice at her house and twice at the victim’s house, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release .
Davis’ admission matched with statements made by the victim, whose exact age wasn’t disclosed but was listed in the release as 16 years old or younger .
Authorities launched a probe of the teacher on Dec. 3, after a student informed the school’s resource officer that a Snapchat video was circulating that showed Davis having sex with a student. The video was reportedly shown to a large group of the school’s football team.
Law enforcement officials have not yet been able to view the video, but are working on tracking it down.
“I know it’s out there someplace,” Sheriff Grady Judd told WFLA .
After her interview with police, Davis was charged by the sheriff’s office with two counts of sexual battery by custodian and offenses against students by an authority figure. She additionally was charged with two additional counts of sexual battery by the Lakeland Police Department.
“This is a clear violation of sexual battery laws. She was in a position of influence over the victim, and she took advantage of that for her own twisted pleasure,” Judd said.
She made her first court appearance on Dec. 11, when a $60,000 bond was ordered for all five charges. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 10, 2022.
According to officials, Davis is not a Polk County Public Schools employee, but served at Lakeland High School as a substitute teacher through staffing company Kelly Education Services.
The company has been instructed that Davis is no longer able to work in any Polk County public schools, officials said.
“We expect substitute teachers to uphold the same high standards of conduct and professionalism as our full-time educators,” said Superintendent Frederick Heid in a statement . “The charges against this person are disgraceful and a complete violation of the trust that teachers build with their students. There is no room in our schools for this type of conduct.”
The Polk County school district changed its policy in October permitting anyone 20 years old or older with a high school or GED diploma to be a substitute teacher, according to WFLA.

A school teacher in Mizoram's Lunglei district, who was arrested for allegedly stripping a six-year-old student of her uniform, has been suspended, an official said on Tuesday.
The suspension order was issued on Monday, school education department director H Lalthlangliana said.
The contractual teacher under the Samagra Shiksha programme had allegedly stripped the Class-I student of Thangpui Primary School in front of her classmates on August 25.
PC Lalbiakengi, the accused teacher, was arrested on August 27 after a complaint by a child protection unit was lodged, the police said.
A local court had on Sunday remanded her to 14-day judicial custody.
A case against the teacher has been registered under the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, the police said.
As per the agreement between her and the state project director of Samagra Shiksha, she will not be entitled to remuneration during the suspension period, the official said.
The student’s mother Nancy Lalnunsangi had claimed that her daughter was assaulted by a boy in the school on August 22.
“My daughter was beaten by her classmate (boy) after which she felt sick. She went to the school the next day as she was excited to go to school wearing the uniform for the first time this year," Lalnunsangi said. The parent of the girl also went to the school and scolded the boy. "The teacher rebuked me over phone and said she was not happy for my conduct with the boy. She also accused me violating school norms. Later she stripped my daughter of the school uniform," Lalnunsangi claimed.
The state’s apex student body Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) also demanded her termination.
