With frightening regularity, teacher sex scandals seem to surface in the age of social media. Here are three teacher sexual abuse cases involving teachers from San Diego, Ohio and Oklahoma.

A North Carolina teacher who was accused last week of having sex with a high school student was found dead in her home, along with her husband, on Wednesday morning in what appears to have been a murder-suicide.
Police, paramedics, and crisis negotiators descended on Emma and Michael Ogle’s home early Wednesday morning following reports of an active shooting incident. Shortly before 10 a.m., authorities confirmed they had located the bodies of the married couple, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Only last week, Emma Neil Ogle, 63, a Charlotte teacher, had been arrested and charged for allegedly having sex with a high school student, according to online court records. She had bonded out and been released on Nov. 1.

But police said that when her husband Michael Ogle, 59, didn’t show up to work at his hardwood flooring company in Huntersville, North Carolina on Wednesday, a family member went to check on him. When the relative arrived, Michael was dead and Emma was holed up inside with a pistol, according to police.
“She noticed 63-old Emma Ogle inside with a gun,” said officer Odette Saglimbeni, a Huntersville Police spokesperson, during a press conference Wednesday. “She was still alive when the family member got there and her husband was not.”
A nearby elementary school was placed on lockdown status as authorities swarmed the scene.
“Once our SWAT team was able to make entry into the home they did locate two deceased parties inside the residence and they were of Emma Ogle and Michael Ogle,” Saglimbeni also said. “And they did suffer from gunshot wounds.”
Police haven’t officially released the exact manner of death, but Saglimbeni noted that the couple’s deaths appeared to be a murder-suicide. Detectives were sweeping the scene as of Wednesday afternoon.
It’s currently unknown how many additional shots were fired, and whether Emma Ogle had shot herself before or after police arrived. Police confirmed the firearm was a handgun but were unable to specify the nature of the gunshot wounds. It’s unclear if police had been called to the house in the past.
“It’s a very sad and unfortunate event,” Saglimbeni told Oxygen.com . “It’s not something that we typically see. We’re doing our best to show some support to the family and the other people that were affected … and piece together what happened.”
Authorities haven’t released a motive at this time. However, police stated the sex crime allegations against Emma Ogle, a teacher a Garinger High School , will be considered in the current investigation into her and her husband's deaths.
“We’re going to look into everything and that will be part of it,” Saglimbeni said.
Ogle was suspended with pay on Oct. 31, 2019, following accusations made by a student earlier this month. She was charged on Halloween with three felony counts, including having sex with a student, indecent liberties with a student, and crimes against nature with a student.
The 63-year-old educator supposedly began a relationship with a 17-year-old student in spring, which became sexual over the summer, according to WSOC-TV . The teen allegedly reported Ogle to school staff on Thursday, hours before she was booked. The alleged sexual encounters didn’t occur on campus, district officials for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools stated.
Ogle had been a career and technical education teacher at Garinger High School since 2014, according to officials. She previously taught at Vance High School in Charlotte.
“The safety and well-being of all students is a top priority for me and my team,” Principal Sharon Bracey said in a statement to parents on the allegations against Ogle. “I assure you that appropriate legal processes are being followed. We will assist in any way needed during this investigation.”
Prior to the North Carolina teacher’s death, the accusations against Ogle had alarmed the students and their parents alike.
“I was in a state of shock,” parent Tychovia Whitmire told WSOC-TV. “I really was because my child goes here and I’ve had two others come out of here.”
"I recognized her," high school senior Edward Ramon also told WCNC-TV . "It’s just disgusting. It’s shocking and disgusting."
Michael Ogle , an Army veteran who served in the 82nd Airborne Division, according to his company’s website , had been working in flooring and construction his whole life. He founded his family-run hardwood flooring company in 1996. Previous customers described him as “pleasant” and “punctual” on his LinkedIn page.
“Can’t wait to see what the next 20 years has in store,” he wrote on his website.
Oxygen.com was unable to reach anyone at Ogle’s Hardwood Flooring on Wednesday.
Prior to the shooting at the Ogle’s residence, Emma had been scheduled back in court related to the teacher-student sex charges on Nov. 19.

A MARRIED cheerleading coach has been arrested over claims she had sex with a 17-year-old student.
Katherine Ross Ridenhour, 23, is accused of romping with the male pupil on school grounds at Cox Mill High School in North Carolina.
The teacher has been charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a student after cops learned of the alleged consensual relationship.
Ridenhour was the school's junior varsity cheerleading head coach and worked as a home economics teacher.
She resigned from her post on Tuesday, Cabarrus County Schools said.
According to cops, Ridenhour and the student had “inappropriate contact” several times over the last month while at the school, Fox46 reported.
Police also said the teen was old enough to consent but Ridenhour was charged because he is a student ans she's in a position of authority.
According to local media, Ridenhour married husband Tyler in 2015 and had only graduated from university last year.
She faces a maximum 12 month sentence on each charge if convicted.

A FEMALE teacher is behind bars accused of having sex with three pupils.
Erin McAuliffe, 25, was arrested after colleagues and students were interviewed in a month-long police probe.
The investigation was launched after admin staff at her school tipped off cops about alleged misconduct involving the maths tutor.
All the reported romps with the three boys — two 17, one 16 — took place away from school, police said.
McAuliffe has been charged with three counts of sexual activity with a student and one of indecent liberties with a minor.
She has been sacked from Rocky Mount Preparatory, North Carolina, where she had worked since last August.
Her bosses said: “We have been fully cooperative with local law enforcement during the course of their handling of this matter.”
McAuliffe is being held at Carteret County Jail after she was taken into custody on Thursday.
She is due in court on Monday.
The Rocky Mount job was the first time McAuliffe worked as a teacher full-time, according to her Linkedin profile.
She also offered “after-school tutoring to help struggling students improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.”
McAuliffe also worked to “develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications in student programs to increase student understanding.”

Former Pennsylvania teacher who resigned from her job at a Christian school, then had a months-long sexual relationship with a 15-year-old former male student, was sentenced in August 2013 to 11-and-a-half to 23 months in prison on a felony charge of corruption of minors. In addition to jail time, she received three years’ probation.
Vermont Spanish teacher pleaded guilty in September 2013 on four misdemeanor counts of sexual exploitation for her behavior with an underage male. As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, Yaranga received a suspended sentence of one to four years, avoiding jail time as long as she obeys the terms of her four-year probation, which includes sex offender therapy and no intentional contact with male minors. She will also have to register as a sex offender for 14 years.
North Carolina dance teacher formed a friendship with a female student and it later evolved into a sexual relationship. White pleaded guilty in September 2016 to a sex act with a student, two counts of indecent liberties with student, indecent liberties with a child and second-degree kidnapping. She was sentenced to 45 months to 123 months in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender.
Florida teacher pleaded guilty in 2005 to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery for having sex with a 14-year old boy. As part of the deal, Lafave was sentenced to three years house arrest and seven years' probation.
Tennessee teacher pleaded no contest in August 2005 to having sex with one of her students, a 13-year-old boy, and was sentenced to nine months in jail.

Letourneau was released in 1998, but was again caught having sex with the boy. She was impregnated again, and this time was sentenced to more than seven years in prison for violating her probation. She was released from prison in 2004, and married the youth in 2005. Earlier this year, he filed for divorce.
