A North Carolina teacher who was charged with having sex with one of her students was arrested again after investigators learned she’d had the same student over her home nine times since she was placed under house arrest, police said.
Elizabeth Suzanne Bailey, 36, was originally arrested on three felony sex charges, including statutory rape of a victim 15 years old or younger, after investigators from the Irridell County Sherriff’s Office learned of reports that she had had sexual relations with the student in June, according to the Irridell Free Press .
Bailey turned herself in on Aug. 1 and was released on a $75,000 bond and placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring — with the condition that she stay away from the student, the Sheriff’s Office said .
She was arrested again on Sept. 2 after police learned of the additional meet-ups.
Bailey was booked at the Iredell County Detention Center, where she was served with an additional 27 charges, including nine counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor; nine counts of felony intimidating or interfering with a state witness; and nine counts of felony violation of pretrial release conditions.
She is currently being held on an $800,000 secured bond.
Bailey worked at Northview Academy in the Iredell-Statesville School District as a science teacher, the Irridell Free Press reported. She began working in the district as an assistant in 2010 and additionally worked as a special education teacher.

A British high school teacher who allegedly slept with a student on prom night was reportedly wearing an inappropriate outfit at the event, sparking concern among her colleagues.
Melissa Tweedie faces being struck off the Scottish teaching registry for the romp, which purportedly occurred after the 2017 Gleniffer High School prom. At the time, she was 23 and the pupil was 18 years old.
At a General Teaching Council for Scotland hearing last week, the school’s deputy head, Heather Prentice, recalled that Tweedie was scantily clad on the night she and other teachers attended the prom in a professional capacity.
“I do remember it [her outfit] was quite loose, short, low cut,” Prentice testified, according to the Sun. “She looked like she was going on a night out.”
The deputy principal also recalled that Tweedie was dancing with a group of “all-male pupils” at the event and was “reluctant” to leave with the other teachers when the formalities were over.
Instead, the young PE teacher went with some of the students to a nearby nightclub, where she is alleged to have downed shots with them.
“Can we for a minute act like I’m not a teacher?” Tweedie is purported to have said to the group.
The teacher later accompanied the group to a nearby hotel, before she and the 18-year-old student allegedly ended up alone together and began kissing.
“We went downstairs and had sex in my room. She stayed the night, and we both left at 8 a.m.,” the anonymous student testified.
“I feel really sorry for Miss Tweedie,” the student continued. “I had already handed in my leaver’s form [leaving school certificate]. In my eyes, it wasn’t a student event. This could have happened on a night out.”
Scottish police have found that no criminal activity took place. Tweedie is now said to be working in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as a yoga instructor.

By David Minsky NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Two female Louisiana high school teachers have been arrested on charges of engaging in group sex with a 16-year-old male student who then bragged to classmates, authorities said on Thursday. Rachel Respess, 24, and Shelley Dufresne, 32, are accused of having sex with the boy in Respess' apartment in the New Orleans suburb of Kenner after a Friday night football game on Sept. 12, Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser said. Dufresne also is accused of having sex with the student at her home in Montz, about 20 miles (32 km) west of New Orleans. The boy, who has since turned 17, told authorities that the sex was consensual, but he was not of legal age to consent, Glaser said. "If this was two male teachers and a female student, the community would be outraged," Glaser said. "It should have the same outrage." The two Destrehan High School teachers were booked on Wednesday on charges of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, Glaser said. They were released from jail early on Thursday after each posting a $7,000 bond, authorities said. Dufresne had been arrested and released a day earlier on charges stemming from the alleged encounter at her home. Prosecutors said they have not yet formally charged the women. The charges related to the Kenner incident carry a maximum of 17-1/2 years in prison and the requirement to register as a sex offender, police said. Jeffrey Smith, an attorney for Respess, said his client is innocent. An attorney for Dufresne could not immediately be reached. Authorities are investigating the possible existence of photographs or video of the suspected group sex, Glaser said. The teachers, both of whom had taught the student, have been suspended without pay, the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper reported. LUFKIN, TX -- A Texas teacher admitted to having sex with four high school students, two at the same time and two others on multiple occasions, school district police said in an arrest affidavit.
Heather Lee Robertson, 38, of Lufkin, Texas, is charged with four counts of improper relationship between educator and student.
According to the affidavit, a Hudson independent school district police officer began investigating the case on April 20, after receiving information about inappropriate relationships between a teacher and several high school students.
One student told police said he had been sexually involved with Roberson for the past few weeks. He said he started chatting and sexting with Robertson through Snapchat shortly after spring break and Robertson asked him to come to her apartment, so they could have sex. He said he was with a friend, another student, and Robertson said it was okay for the friend to come along.
Both students told police they had sex with Robertson at the same time during the encounter.
The officer then spoke to two other students, who said they had sex with Robertson on a few occasions. They said they would sneak out of their houses and Robertson would pick them up and take them back to her apartment to have sex and then take them back home.
The officer then spoke to Robertson, who admitted to the allegations, according to the affidavit. She said she had recently become a heavy drinker and would sometimes not remember the details of the encounters.
Hudson ISD told Crimesider it was not commenting on the allegations. School policy prohibits teachers from having inappropriate relationships with students, reports KTRE.
“School employees are always in the public eye, and the expectation is that they will always observe professional boundaries in their personal relationships with students,” the district’s handbook states.
